Hi, I want to get a trunk mounted bike rack for my 2008 mercedes c class 4dr sedan. I am thinking Thule is the best and the TH9002 is the one that is recommended on their website, but I was wondeirng what your expert opinion is regarding the best carrier for my car one that wont dent or scratch the vehicle. Would the 2 bike carrier TH9001 offer less of a chance of denting/scrathing?

Thule offers several trunk mount bike rack options and they are all listed as being a fit for your 2008 Mercedes C-Class sedan. The Raceway 3, # TH9002, is one of the best Thule has to offer. I had a chance to try out the rack the other day. The retractable cables are my favorite feature and they are coated and padded to protect the vehicle from scratches. And the base legs have molded rubber pads so all contact points are protected.
With any trunk mount bike rack for any vehicle, there is a chance that plastic or fiberglass, even thinner pieces of steel can get deformed when using a trunk mount bike rack. I have not heard of any complaints thus far with the Raceway series of bike racks. As long as it is installed according to the instructions, follow the fit tips for your specific vehicle, and stay within the weight limits there should not be any problems.
If you plan on only carrying 2 bikes, then I recommend going with the 2 bike version, # TH9001, because for 2 bikes, it is the right rack for the job. I have included links to the installation details and a video review.
