Can The Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller Be Installed in the Trunk of a 2008 BMW X5

Question:

I have an 08 BMW X5 w/oem hitch and wire harness. They provide a trigger wire for an electric break control. Would the Tekonsha P-3 work with this setup? Also, could the P-3 be left in the rear of the vehical? I know I will have to stop the car and go to the rear for calibration but once calibrated, the unit could be out of sight??? Please comment.

The Tekonsha P-3, part # 90195, should work great with your BMW. I cannot recommend you install the controller in the manner you describe. The controller must be installed within the reach of the driver so the brake override switch can be activated in an emergency.
