If your 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, has an 8 foot bed, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 45293, which has an 18,000 lb towing capacity. If you do not have an 8 foot bed, the next highest capacity hitch we have available is the Draw-Tite Hitch, part # DT45022, which has a 13,000 lb towing capacity.

When choosing a weight distribution system, you want to choose a system that is close to the tongue weight of your trailer when loaded. Tongue weight is about 10 to 15 percent of your loaded trailer weight. A good option would be a system with built-in, dual-cam sway control. Dual-cam sway control acts to prevent trailer sway before it starts. I would recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution system, part # RP66130.
