Adjustable Ball Mount Recommendations for a 2007 Volvo XC90

I am concerned about the length of an adjustable ball mount.ie too long Is there a maximum allowed distance from the center of the hitch pin to the center of the ball hole for my 2007 VOLVO XC90 ?

It looks like all of the available hitches for your 2007 Volvo XC90 are class III hitches with a 2 inch receiver. This is a good thing, because the class III hitch can handle more tongue weight and stress than lower class hitches. What this means is that having a longer ball mount will be fine.

On the standard ball mount that is recommended for your vehicle, # 2923, the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole is 8-1/2 inches. Since the Curt Multi-Ball Adjustable Ball Mount, # D900, is so much longer at 16 inches, if you are concerned, I do have another option.

Take a look at the Hidden Hitch Adjustable Ball Mount, # 80414. This mount is 14 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. If that is still too long, then # 80412 is 12 inches from pin hole to ball hole. Add to either of those the Tow Ready Interchangeable Hitch Ball Set, # 63803, and you have a complete set up at a more economical price point.
