350 Mini Weight Distribution for Fleetwood and Jayco Trailers

Question:

I have an 03 Jeep Grand Cherokee with an after market hitchpurchased from e trailer. we are pulling a Jayco 1007 popup, gvw around 2400 lbs and a tongue weight of around 240 lbson the light side. We took a 4 hour trip over the weekend with lots of interstate driving, it was very unnvering towing down the interstate. I was wondering if a weight distribution setup would make the unit feel more like one vehicle. I added a friction sway control and had to add air bags as with the tongue weight and firewood loaded the jeep was close to the bumpstops, though Im still not happy with the setup. My concern is a wdh setup would lighten the tongue to much and induce sway. Though I could add more weight to the front of the trailer if necessary. What are your thoughts?

I recommend the 350 Mini WD for Fleetwood and Jayco Trailers weight distribution system, # RP66041. This unit combines weight distribution with sway control, and it would be ideal for your application. When loading the trailer, make sure that you have an approximately 60 - 40 percent split, with 60 percent of the weight being in front of the axle. This will help minimize any sway that might occur. The weight distribution system does not really lighten the tongue weight, it transfers a portion of it from the rear axle of the tow vehicle to the front axle, evening out the ride height and reducing or eliminating the squat that you have been experiencing.
