where is the t connection made for the 7 to 4 flat plug on the 2011 tacoma

The connection point is located behind the factory installed 7-way trailer connector. You will simply unplug the connector that attaches to the back of your factory 7-way connector. I attached installation instructions for this product below for you to check out.
The 4-pole trailer connector will be stowed under the vehicle close to the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket is recommended. For that I would recommend a Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat, part # 18144.
