According to Curt, if you install trailer hitch # C15012 on your 1997 Ford F-350, the spare tire will need to be temporarily lowered for hitch installation, but it does not have to be removed. The hitch is designed to fit the larger 37-1/4 inch frames. While you do not have to remove the spare tire, it may need to be repositioned once the hitch is in place. The recommended ball mount for this hitch is # 40330 and you can use pin and clip # PC3. For a ball, you can use # A-90 (2 inch diameter) or # 19286 (2-5/16 inch diameter). If you need trailer wiring, you can use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118316.
