What is the maximum width the crossbar can be for the cargo carrier clamp to properly secure the carrier to the roof? Mine measure out to about 3.5 inches. 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan

Yakima states that the RocketBox 14 will not fit your 2009 Caravan. I also checked with Thule, and their cargo boxes that use the Quick Grip mounting clamps are not compatible with your Caravan either.
SportRack which is a division of Thule offers a budget-priced selection of roof-mounted cargo boxes that use U-bolts to attach to the crossbars. They will accommodate cross bars up to 4 inches wide. I was told by my contact at Thule that these would work great for you. The Aero XL, part # A90275 and the Explorer, part # A90095 both offer 18 cubic feet of cargo capacity.
