Using a Rise or Drop Ball Mount with the 3 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Towing Bike Rack

Question:

I have a 4 space on my extended 2 ball-mount bar that should be sufficient to mount your 3 1/8 inch bottom of rack? Your copy says it may not work. why and how?

Expert Reply:

The base of the 3 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Towing Bike Rack part # S64600 is 3-1/8 inches long. It is stated at the bottom of the page that this rack may not work with ball mounts that have a rise or because the welded gusset in the ball mount may prevent the rack from sliding far enough on to the ball mount. If you have 4 inches of space on the top and bottom of the ball mount from the hitch to the gusset when it is mounted, you should not have a problem.
