Where is the Trailer Serial or VIN Number Located

Question:

Where would the VIN# be located?

asked by: Rick

Expert Reply:

The vehicle identification number or serial number for a trailer is usually found on a plate or sticker on the trailer frame, usually on the tongue. It will also list the capacity of the trailer and/or other information. For a Shelby coupler, the model number may be stamped into the metal on top or on the underside of the coupler.

what do you due ha ha if the sticker is gone

Check with the DMV about the title. The VIN should also be recorded on the title. This is assuming that the trailer was always properly registered and there is a trail of license plate information.
