Trailer Signal and Brake Lights Not Working on a Trailer Behind a 2007 Nissan Titan

Question:

I have a 2007 Nissan Titan pickup with a towing package. When I hookup the pigtail from trailer I do have taillight but no signal are brake light. The ground & wireing check out OK on the trailer. Any suggestion.

The first thing I would recommend you do is use a circuit tester, like part # 40376, and check your trailer connector on the bumper of your truck. Activate the turn signals and check the appropriate pins for a signal. Then have a helper step on the brake pedal and test for a signal at the 2 pins for the left and right turn signal. If you do not show a signal for any of these functions, you probably have a blown fuse.

Consult the vehicle owner manual for the location of the fuses that manage your tow package. Your tow package also uses 3 relays that activate the the tow package, you might want to make sure these are installed (once again, see vehicle owner manual for more information.) If you do get signals at the connector when the turn signals and brakes are activated, then the problem exists on your trailer. You will just have to closely examine the wiring from the connector back, looking for broken or frayed wires and loose or corroded connections.
