Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for a 2005 Toyota Avalon XLS

Question:

We have a 2005 Toyota Avalon XLS. Everyone has told us that we need a 2 hitch to use the best bike racks for this car. However, you are only offering a 1 1/4 inch hitch. We have been cautioned not to use a 1 1/4 inch hitch and bike rack because the bike rack and bikes vibrate, rattle, and move around too much with a 1 1/4 hitch. Do you have a 2 hitch that fits a 2005 Avalon? What should we do?

There are more bike racks available for the 2 inch receivers, however, your vehicle does not have the option to use a 2 inch bike rack. The following bike racks will work with the Class I trailer hitches listed for your vehicle. They are listed by quality, the first being the best. The Thule T2 Quick-Load 2 Bike Rack, part # TH917XTR, Thule DoubleTrack 2 Bike Rack, part # TH990XT, Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack, part # TH912XT and the 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack, part # 63120 will all work for you.

The first three bike carriers listed above have an anti rattle device built into the bike carrier to eliminate any vibration which will help protect the bikes and bike rack.
