The Thule Passage 3 Bike Carrier Trunk Mounted Bike Rack, part # TH911XT, that you referenced would work on your 2008 Impala for carrying your 2 or 3 aluminum bikes. I attached instructions for this rack below as well as a review video of this product.

Since you are only carrying 2 bikes you could also use the 2 bike version, # TH910XT.

Another option you have is to get a Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch for the 2008 Impala by Chevrolet, part # 90137, and then use a Thule Helium 2 Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch Hitches, part # TH970XT. I attached installation instructions and videos for the above mentioned products as well.

Generally speaking, most people use the trunk mounts if they are looking for an economical, bike rack for short trips. Whereas hitch racks are considered to be more secure and do better on longer trips.
