Will Trailer Light Wiring for the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox Work Without Reprogramming the Computer

Question:

I was told at the Chevy dealer that if I add wiring to provide trailer towing capability I may have to have the vehicle computer reprogramed. They were not sure since they have no done one yet. Will the regular wiring harness you sell work without having to reprogram the computer? Does this model 118494 have the same possible problem?

The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, item # 118494, for the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, will not affect the vehicle computer system. This is a powered converter that draws the power to activate the trailers stop, turn, and running lights from the vehicle battery. the connectors that plug inline with the vehicles tail light wiring only require a very small amount of power to signal the converter box to activate the correct signal. In this way the vehicle circuitry is not effected.

We have installed this wiring on a 2010 Equinox, see video link, with no adverse effects and reprogramming the computer is not required. I have posted the installation instructions for you to review also.
