Expert Reply:

On your 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty Short Bed if you are using the Reese Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, part # RP50082-58, the distance from the rear edge of the truck bed to the rear edge of the front base rail closest to the truck cab is 54-3/16 inches. I am including a video of the Reese custom base rails being installed on a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty and a link to the installation instructions. It will show you where to measure and how to install this custom install kit.

If you are using the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit, part # RP30035, the distance is measured from the rear edge of the truck to the rear edge of the base rail closest to the tailgate of the truck is 32-1/2 inches. I also am including a link to a video of the Reese universal base rails being installed on a 2002 Ford F-250 Super Duty and a link to the installation instructions.
