4 Bike Hanging Hitch Carrier Recommendation for Toyota Venza

Question:

I have a Toyota Venza with a 1.25 hitch. Which of the 4-bike racks TH957 vs Yakima 2405 is better suited for ground clearance being that the vehicle is low like a car not like a SUV - which arm extender is higher? Does either have pin with lock capability? Must I use manufacturers pin and lock device? Which is better suited to actually carry 4 bikes? Which would you recommend?

For ground clearance concerns I believe the Yakima BigHorn 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Tilting Rack w Frame Mount Cradles for 1-1/4 inch Hitches, part # Y02405, would suit your needs better. It has a height of about 41-1/2 inches whereas the Thule Parkway 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack w Frame Mount Cradles for 1-1/4 inch Hitch, part # TH957 has a height of 34.5 inches.

The # TH957 requires that you use a Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, part # THSTL2, if you wanted a hitch lock device.

For the # Y02405 you are going to use a Yakima DeadLock Hitch Lock and Integrated Locking Cable, part # Y02411. This comes with a locking cable that will secure your bikes to the rack as well.

Based on the fact that you would get more ground clearance with the # Y02405 I would recommend you go with it. It seems like it would fit your needs better.
