There are several supplemental braking systems that can be used in a vehicle being towed by a Motorhome. The easiest to use and install is the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400. This system installs in minutes and works like a proportional brake controller. If you brake hard in the motorhome, the Even Brake will do the same. If you brake lightly, the Even Brake will as well.

It also includes a built-in break away system and can be used on most vehicles with or without ABS brakes. Another bonus feature is that the Even Brake is made in the U.S.A.

If you want something more cost effective, you can go with the BrakeMaster system. If your Motorhome has air or air over hydraulic brakes, you would need # RM-9160, that you have referenced. This system also comes with a built-in break away system. The slightly less expensive # RM-9100 is also for motorhomes with air or air over hydraulic brakes but it does not have a break away system. These are considered permanent installations so if you plan on towing the truck frequently it would be more relevant to use one of these systems.

The installation of the permanent systems is very involved. If you have fairly substantial automotive repair and maintenance experience, you can probably take care of the installation yourself. But for ease of installation, portability, and performance, I recommend the Even Brake.
