Weigh Safe Ball Mount Replacement Shanks, Anti-Rattle, and Ball Movement

Hello, returning long time customer. Looks like I finally found my last ball mount after many others. A few questions: 1-Is the shank portion available separately ? I have a wide range of trailer heights so the one with the most will be to close to the ground on my low trailer. If so how much for the WS6 shank ? 2-Reviews are great but rattle seems to be a concern. For the receiver I made my own similar to the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch but concerned about the dual locking pins and the ball itself that must mover vertically to function as a scale. Do you know if the pins rattle and if there is a way to secure them. Hitch rattle has been driving me crazy for years. Finally got it sorted on my current hitches but before I spend $300 plus for this, need to know all the details. Surprised that the ball cant be secured after the tongue weight is adjusted. Any idea how far the ball s from unloaded to #1000 lbs. ? I think I can fabricate a HD set screw to take care of that issue.

There are numerous replacement shanks only for the Weigh Safe ball mounts such as # WS6-2. I have included a link to the various options for you.
The shank for the WS6-2 is # DB6-2. Current pricing is available on its product page.
Ball mounts are going to rattle, and adjustable ball mounts, being comprised of several pieces, can rattle more so. With that said the ball platform part of the Weigh Safe ball mounts is pretty secure. The 2 pins are of course a little smaller than the holes they fit in so that it is easy to operate. that is the root problem that causes rattle. For anti-rattle at the shank part the best option that would not interfere with the units scale feature is the Gen-Y device # 325-GH-033 which is basically a wedge. You can use it and take the platform part off when not towing and it wouldn't make a peep.
The ball pressing down on the pin to determine the weight on the scale moves only a fraction of an inch. I do not recommend fabricating a set screw to keep the ball in place. It needs to be able to move freely, only moves a tiny bit, and adding anything to it would void the lifetime warranty.
