Yes, for installation, you will need to temporarily lower the exhaust to install the Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 90132, on your 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. The best way to lower the hangers, is to apply some WD-40 to the rubber mounts to slide the hanger loose.
If you have the SS model, the bumper fascia will need to be trimmed, other models of the Malibu do not require trimming of the bumper fascia.
Part # 90132 includes a drawbar, pin, and clip. To complete your towing setup, you may also need a 1-7/8 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19256, or 2 Inch Hitch Ball, part # 19258, depending on the trailer coupler size.
For wiring, you will need Draw-Tite Wiring, part # 18252 for lights on your trailer.
I have linked instructions and a video install of part # 90132 on a 2004 Malibu that you be a good reference when installing on your 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.
