Will Rage PowerSport Motorcycle Carrier Fit Ford Explorer WIth Factory Hitch and 500 Tongue Weight

Question:

I have a 250cc tomberlin motor scooter. Wheel base of 60 and it weighs 330lbs. I have a ford explorer with a factory type 3 hitch with a tongue rating of 500 lbs. This thing is built out of steel right? Will this work for my vehicle?

Expert Reply:

Yes, the Rage PowerSport Motorcycle Carrier, part # SMC600 has a frame made of steel with aluminum track for your motorcycle or motor scooter wheels, and has a steel loading ramp.

If the factory hitch on your vehicle has a 2 inch receiver, and has a tongue weight rating of 500 pounds, then yes, the Rage PowerSport Motorcycle Carrier, part # SMC600 will work on your Ford Explorer with factory hitch. Your 250cc Tomberlin Motor Scooter, with a wheel base of 60 inches and weight of 330 pounds will fit part # SMC600 and will mount to your Ford Explorer.

Part # SMC600 weighs approximately 85 pounds, which is also considered tongue weight when mounted to your Ford Explorer. So with your bike mounted, you will be under 500 pounds of tongue weight, which you want to make sure and not exceed.
