Yes, to attach a womens bike to the Thule Helium Aluminum 2 Bike Rack, # TH970XT, you would need to use the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT.

It attaches to the center seat post and to the handlebar post and provides a horizontal bar, that will be used to sit in the cradles on the bike rack and allow the bike to ride level.

It is also used for childrens bikes and some alternative frame bikes that do not have that horizontal bar.
