The item you selected, the Convert-A-Ball Kwik Gate Bed Extender and Tailgate Step - 57 Inch Wide, part # KG100 will work if your tailgate is at least 57 inches wide. You will want to measure your tailgate to see if it is that wide. If the tailgate is at least 57 inches wide than part # KG100 will work on your 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD pickup truck.
Without seeing the vehicle I would guess that it would work as the bed dimensions for the Chevrolet Silverado have not changed drastically over the years as the product description shows a newer Silverado using part # KG100.
If your tailgate is not 57 inches wide we do offer an adjustable bed extender, the Topline Bed Extender for the 2006 Chevrolet Pickup, Silverado, part # BX4004-01. The Topline Bed Extender is expandable from 48 inches to 64 inches and is adjustable to fit your 2006 Silverado 2500 HD pickup. The only difference is that part # BX4004-01, does not have the fold down step.
