Will SportRack Escape 4 # A30404 or Yakima DoubleDown # Y02424 Bike Racks Fit a 2008 Toyota RAV4

Question:

Is there enough clearance between the bike/rack from the 2008 Rav4 with external spare wheel? do i need an extension?

To determine whether or not the SportRack Escape 4 Bike Hitch Mount Folding Rack, # A30404, will fit on your 2008 Toyota RAV4, you will have to make 1 important measurement. Take something long and flat, like a 2x4, and place it flush against the back of the spare tire. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your RAV4 to the board. If the distance in less than 12-1/4 inches, then the bike rack will fit. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review below.

If the distance is less than 11-1/2 inches, the Yakima DoubleDown 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Folding Rack, # Y02424, will fit. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review of this rack below.

I do not recommend using an extension as it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent.
