Which Wedge Should be Used with a Reese M5 Fifth Wheel Hitch 20k
Question:
Im looking at purchasing the Reese M5 20K #RP30921 fifth wheel hitch and the Reese Sidewinder King Pin with Rotating Turret #RP34FR or #RP61410. Apparently, the Sidewinder comes with a Universal Wedge. My question is, is there any major reason that I should consider getting the custom wedge for the #RP30921 hitch, or will the Universal Wedge work just fine? Also, could you tell me what the difference is, besides the price, of the two Sidewinder King Pins #RP61420 and #RP61410. Thanks

Expert Reply:
The universal wedges that comes with the Reese M5 # RP30921 is much different in shape than the one that you should use part # RP44FR. If you hover over # RP44FR and then the universal wedge part # 201100 you can see just how different they are. The M5 wedge is going to fit much better and will provide you with a better towing experience and easier setup.
The difference between the two Sidewinder is the pin boxes the two are designed to fit as replacements for.
The part # RP34FR fits the
Fabex 663 and 665
Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD
M&M 663 and 665
And the part # RP61412 fits the
Fabex 500, 520, 560, and 765
Lippert 1116, 1716 and 0115
RBW 7019 and 7028
If you are unsure what pin box you have on your trailer check out the sticker or plate near the pin box on the trailer and it will be listed there.
You can check out the chart at the link I attached to see all fits or Sidewinders.
