when i mount the rack on my 2000 mercury mystique the doors dont close all the way, is this normal? and how do i correct this?

On the Yakima Q Towers Roof Rack Feet, # Y00124, for the 2000 Mercury Mystique there is a footnote in the instructions.

It says placement of the clips for this vehicle requires pulling a portion of the interior weather seal off from the door frame. Place the clips over the exposed steel ledge. Replace weather seal by pushing over clip and ledge.

I have a picture of how to attach the clips under the weather seal. I will send the picture in a separate email.

That might be what is keeping the doors from closing all the way.
