Will the Thule Transporter Cargo Carrier, Part # TH665C Provide Enough Room to Access Rear Door and fully open it? I have a 2001 Mazda MPV dx

We have not yet had a chance to test the Thule Transport Combi Cargo Carrier, item # TH665C, on a 2001 Mazda MPV DX, so I cannot say for sure if it will provide enough clearance. Thule was very thorough in making the design as universal as possible. It extends 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the pivot point upright bar and tilts down at a 45 degree angle. When tilted down it should provide enough clearance to open the rear hatch. Again since we have not had the opportunity to test it on an Edge, we cannot say for sure. I have included a link to a video reviewing this carrier that should give you an idea of how it works and the clearance that the tilt function provides.

You may also want to consider the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock and Anti-Rattle Device, item # THSTL2, to secure the carrier to the hitch on your vehicle.
