Installing 12V Powered Trailer Vent in 5th Wheel Trailer That Has Ventine Vents

Question:

We just traded in our old 2013 bumper pull trailer for a 5th-wheel. and I took the MaxAire II off of the old trailer before trading it in. Upon trying to install on our new trailer, it seems that the new trailer has Ventline vents with the shift-lever style handle to open instead of the round crank knob. Anyway, the new trailers vents have plastic tabs that stick yo that are aligned perfectly to where the MaxAire II brackets go . . . but the tabs re not high enough to mount to the exsisting holes in the MaxAire II brackets, and I tried to drill new holes to match the Ventline tabs, but they would be in the bend of the brackets, and still really wouldnt line up. I have to buy two more Max Aire II vents as the new trailer has three ceiling vents, but if the MaxAire IIs dont make a bracket to line up, then I may have to look elsewhere at another brand, which I dont want to do. Any suggestions???

The Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # FV803350 fits the same 14-1/4 x 14-1/4-inch rough trailer roof opening as do most manual vents like the Ventline # V2110SP-24, but it has the capacity to adapt to roof thicknesses up to 4-inches. The Ventline vents work for roofs with thickness between 1-7/8-inches and 3-inches. This may be why you are having trouble with retro-fitting the MaxxAir vent into your new trailer.

It sounds like you are going to need to find an alternate mounting method for your vent or to use one of the 12V powered Ventline fans we offer such as # V2094SP-28.

If you'd like to submit a photo of your roof opening and provide its thickness I will be glad to try to find a suitable mounting method. It may be that your best option is to locally source new brackets of some kind at your neighborhood hardware store.

We do offer vent sealing kits such as # 48092 that works with roofs made of rubber, metal, plastic or wood and # CAM25013 that also includes hardware.
