Using Bumper Winch as Hoist

Question:

I am a contractor looking to use a winch as the pulling power for a 2 foot by 2 foot platform with a guide track at each corner. This will act as a elevator to bring barrels of beer and soda from the basement of the resturant to the first floor. It will travel about nine feet up and down. I would like to have an electrical hook up with a control behind the bar only. The weight of a half barrell of beer is about 280lbs. Am I looking in the right direction as to using a winch for this application

I would be very leery about using a bumper winch for this purpose. These winches are designed to pull, not lift.

We offer a Crane Winch, part # 03002 that would work for this purpose, but it would need 12-volt DC power to work. I believe your best bet would be to find you a 110V electric hoist with sufficient capacity for the barrels and cases of soda.
