Recommended Electric Brake Assemblies For 25 Ft Boat Trailer With 12 x 2 Brakes

Question:

My 25foot two axle boat trailer has HADCO 12inch x 2inch electric brakes on both axles. They have a large center magnet and do not mount with bolts to the axle. There is no conventional flange or backing plate. The hubs are a 5 on 5.5inch pattern. Are there parts available to repair/restore these brakes and are they safe? I understand that Airstream Trailers once used these . Please advise, thanks.

In my research I found the Hadco brakes online. The electric brakes they have show there are mounting holes in the back. One of my co-workers said that some did not have the brakes mounted with bolts. They may have actually welded the brakes in place.

Our brakes may not work with the Hadco system but there are some alternatives. You can have the Hadco brakes cut off and have a certified professional weld a new brake flange on to the axle and install new brakes along with any other new components.

I have attached a link to the 12 x 2 electric brake assemblies we offer. An example of brakes you might want to take a look at are part # AKEBRK-7L-SA and part # AKEBRK-7R-SA. These are self adjusting electric brakes for 6,000 lb axles. They have a 5 bolt mounting pattern.

I have attached a link to the mounting flanges you can check out as well. The brake mounting flange I recommend for a 5 bolt pattern is part # 4-44-1.
