Swagman S64910 Bike Rack for Class I and II Hitches

Question:

We have a 2005 Prius and 2008 Scion XB. The hitch for the Prius is a Class I while the Scion is a Class II. Our goal is to purchase a bike rack for the hitch. Can we use a 3 bike hitch rack that says class II only on the Class I hitch if we only carry 2 bikes on it? That way we could purchase a 3 bike rack that I could use on both cars with 3 bikes on the Scion and 2 on the Prius.

If the bike rack is listed as a class II only rack, you will not be able to use it in a class I hitch. We do offer some rack that will work with both class I and class II hitches, but no 3-bike racks. The Swagman XP Bike Rack, part # S64910-2 will hold 3 bikes, but can only hold 2 when used with a class I hitch. The rack can also be used on a hitch with a 2 inch receiver, as well.
