Has the bearing sizes been changes since the l970s or, do you have to install new bearings wshen installing anew Dexter brake drum. My old bearings are good. Will the fit the new dexter drum?

There have been changes here and there in the trailer industry since the 1970s. To be sure your old bearings will fit the newer components, like the Trailer Hub Assembly, # 8-91-05UC1, that you referenced, you will need to check the numbers on them. This drum accepts the following:
Bearings (L44649 Inner/Outer), Races, Cap (1.986 inch outside diameter). The inner bearing dimension is 1.063 inches and the inner seal dimension is 1.5 inches.
If your existing components match these dimensions, then they will fit on the Trailer Hub Assembly, # 8-91-05UC1.
