Ball Mount for a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban 2500

Question:

I need help with a ball mount. I have a 94 suburban 2500. I purchased a 28 ft deck boat that weighs approx 8000lbs with fuel. I'm assuming I will need a 4 inch? I know the ball size is 2 5/16 . What mount can I buy and have no issues if its not a 4 that I need? Or do you know what I will need on such a vehicle?

Expert Reply:

I would recommend measuring for the correct rise or . This is very easy to do. Simply measure from the TOP of your receiver to the ground, then with the trailer jacked in position so that it is level, measure from the BOTTOM of the coupler to the ground. The difference between these two measurements would be the rise/ needed. You will want to choose the ball mount that would place your trailer as close to level as possible.
You will want to choose a ballmount with a capacity of 8000 lbs or greater, whose hole matches the diameter of the shank on the 2-5/16 inch trailer ball you are using.
