Question:

wondering on how much draw on the battery if left plugged in with trailer hooked say overnight and if it stays lit while plugged in trailer parked or does it light up with no trailer hooked or when driving with no trailer or only when brakes are applied. 2009 dodge 1500 with factory towing plugs also would like to mount in a small hole in dash where the factory puts them in the 2010s. thanks

The Tekonsha P-3 Trailer Brake Controller, # 90195, only draws a few milliamps when on. The brake controller will eventually turn off by itself once it senses it has not moved.

With trailer attached and parked:
Brake controller will still sense the trailer is attached but will eventually shut itself off. In the time it is on, it only draws a few milliamps.

With no trailer attached and vehicle parked:
Brake controller should shut itself off after 15 minutes, again only drawing a few milliamps when it is on.

While driving with trailer:
Can use up to 12 volts when braking.

While driving without trailer:
It will not sense a trailer and thus will only draw a few milliamps needed for basic functions.

You can mount the P-3 in the available opening as long as it is mounted between -90 degrees (straight down) and 90 degrees (straight up). You also need to make sure there is enough space around it to use it properly. I have included a link to the instructions below.
