- Trunk Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer
- There are several trunk mount racks that are listed as a fit for the 2003 Mercury Mountaineer but the Rhode Gear Super Shuttle, # RG8015126, is not one of them. I have included a link to the racks that will fit. The closest match in price and design is the Hollywood Racks Baja, # HRB2. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes I recommend using the bike adapter bar # HRBA-PRO. This adapter clamps arou

- Installing Fuse Holder on Battery in Trailer Wiring Harness 118345 for 2000 Mercury Mountaineer
- The yellow fuse holder starts out as a closed loop. You will need to cut it in half. One end connects to the power wire you ran from the wiring harness. The other end will connect to the positive battery terminal. Inserting the fuse should be the last step.
Take a look at the video I have linked at about the 3:40 mark that shows our installer putting in the fuse holder. I have included some additional links that will help with installation.

- Will the SportRack Explorer Cargo Box Fit a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer
- The SportRack Explorer Cargo # A90095 that you referenced would work on your 2007 Mercury Mountaineer as long as it has a roof rack with cross bars that run from side to side that are smaller than 4 inches in diameter and have a minimum distance of 24 inches between them.
If you do not have a roof rack on your vehicle check out the link I provided that will take you to a page with a Thule roof rack designed to work specifically on your vehicle

- Locating the Brake and 12 Volt Power Wires on a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer With Factory Tow Package
- If there is power running to your brake controller, then brake and 12 volt power wire are most likely ran to the rear of your 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. If you follow the wires from the 4 way flat connector on your vehicle, then they should lead to a connection point. You will see 7 wires coming from the front of the vehicle into one side and only 4 wires coming out of this connection point for your 4 way flat connector.
If you have this connection point, then you can pull back the plastic sh

- How to Test a 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness Plug
- You are testing correctly for the left and right turn signals, but the 3rd female plug you are testing is the taillight circuit. If you turn on the running lights you should get 12 volt power at the connection that the brown wire runs into.
To test the brake lights at the trailer connector you need to apply the brakes and test the connectors that the green and yellow wires go into. These are the same connections that you tested for the turn signals.
Trailer wiring combines the left turn/br

- CIPA Towing Mirror Recommendation for a 2007 Mercury Mountaineer With Puddle Lights
- The CIPA Dual-View Clip-On Towing Mirror, part # 11953, is a universal fit towing mirror. You will need to measure your factory mirrors to know if these mirrors will work on your 2007 Mercury Mountaineer.
The CIPA mirrors will work on most 7 inch to 10 inch tall mirrors. The mirrors on your vehicle will need to have an outer plastic housing that is separate from the actual mirror, for it to work. The clips on the tow mirror will connect to the plastic housing of your factory mirror, and the s

- Wiring the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector # HM48470 on a 2001 Mercury Mountaineer
- If the black wire on your 2001 Mercury Mountaineer is the 12V power wire from the vehicles battery you will want to connect that wire to the terminal at the eleven oclock position on the back of the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector, part # HM48470.
When wiring the Hopkins connector to your vehicle I would recommend to use a circuit tester like the Quickee Tester, # 3808 to test the functions of the wires and wire the connector by function and not just color.

- How to Install a Brake Controller on a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer
- On your 2008 Mercury Mountaineer there should be a wiring harness that is attached to the 4-way wiring near the rear of your vehicle that has the brake controller wiring. This is the wiring that you would connect the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole # 37185 to.
You would plug your 4-way into the # 37185 and then wire the brake controller output circuit to the blue wire, the auxiliary 12 volt power to the black wire, ground the white wire, and then run the purple to a reverse lockout circuit if needed

- Will SportRack Explorer Cargo Box # A90095 Fit a 2006 Mercury Mountaineer with Factory Roof Rack
- In order to determine if the SportRack Explorer Cargo Box, # A90095, will fit your 2006 Mercury Mountaineer, you will need to measure the width of the crossbars. If they are 4 inches or less in diameter, then the box will fit.
The cargo box is only 54 inches long, and since you have adjustable crossbars on your Mountaineer, it should not interfere with the opening of the rear hatch. You will need at least 24 inches, center to center, between crossbars. I have included a link to a video revie

- What Hitch Cargo Carrier will fit a 2004 Mercury Mountaineer with a Class II 1-1/4 Inch Hitch
- That is correct about when using an a hitch adapter that your tongue weight will be reduced by 50 percent. We do not recommend to use a hitch adapter on a cargo carrier because of that reason.
The Curt Hitch Cargo Carrier, part # C18145, will fit a Class II 1-1/4 inch hitch, but the weight capacity of the carrier will be reduced from the 500 lbs to the tongue weight capacity of your Class II hitch which is normally 350 lbs. This is an excellent choice for your application because it is the on

- Can a Trailer Hitch Adapter Be Used to Carry 2 inch Cargo Carrier oa a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer
- There are two good recommendations for you but I would not recommend using a hitch adapter to carry a 2 inch shank cargo carrier in a 1-1/4 inch hitch. The reason is that the adapter reduces the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50 percent, and you would need to be very careful not to overload the hitch and vehicle frame, causing damage. The reduction in capacity is due to the extra torque that is applied when placing the weight farther away from the rear of the vehicle.
The first recommendatio

- Using a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Adapter Reduces Tongue Weight Capacity on a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer
- The use of any adapter or extension will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your 2002 Mercury Mountaineer by 50 percent. In this situation, you have to go with the lowest capacity, in this case it is the trailer hitch with the reduced tongue weight. Even if the adapter is rated for 6,000 pounds, you will only be able to tow as much as your hitch and vehicle will allow.
To overcome this problem, I recommend installing a larger capacity hitch like the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75132. This is

- Can The Draw-Tite Ball Mount, # 36065, Be Turned Over And Used As A Drop On a Mercury Mountaineer
- A 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver is either a Class I or Class II hitch. All Class I and Class II can only use the ball mounts that are recommended for that vehicle.
For safety reasons, if you have to change the rise or drop from the recommended ball mount, then the manufacturer does not recommend to tow that trailer with the Class I or Class II hitch on your vehicle.
We have Class III hitches available for Mercury Mountaineers that will bolt on underneath the OEM 1-1/4 hitch. The Class III hit

With the Valley hitch, part # V81680, you will not have to do either. The full size spare will remain in the factory location. I have added a link to the instructions for you to reference.
