If you care about the safety of your bikes, there should be no holdup when deciding what carrier to purchase. The Yakima HoldUp tray-style, hitch mounted carrier provides superior protection for up to two bikes, boasting StrongArm technology, an integrated cable lock and a host of other valuable features.
The HoldUp is distinguished from comparable carriers by its deep front wheel cradles and StrongArm technology. The contoured front cradles provide a stable base for the bike. The pivoting arms with push-button ratcheting hooks then wrap around the front wheels of the bikes. The arms hold the bikes on the trays and prevent the bikes from swaying back and forth during transit - all with no bike frame contact.
The front arms and cradles combine with adjustable rear tire trays to allow the HoldUp to accommodate a wide variety of bike styles. The rear cradles pivot to accommodate the different bike sizes - no need for sliding and tightening - and the wheel is secured with ratcheting straps. The pivoting rear wheel cradle also helps to reduce the overall size of the carrier.
The platform of the carrier is secured in the folded up or down positions with a simple pin and clip. If you remove the pin, the carrier will also slightly tilt forward to provide a little better access to the rear cargo area of the vehicle. For storage, the front wheel trays and ratcheting arms fold flat towards the center to take up little space.
The HoldUp includes its own added security measure with an integrated cable lock. The 6-1/2' cable can be run through your bike frames and wheels and secured to the bolt located on the tray of the rack (pictured). This locks your bikes to the rack but you may still want to get a hitch lock and SKS locking cores to secure the rack to the vehicle.
The tray includes an integrated bottle opener, located at the end of the rack.
The HoldUp is secured inside the hitch with a heavy-duty (RocSteady) hitch tongue, providing superior stability for transportation. The hitch tongue includes an insert that both reduces movement in the hitch and prevents rattling. HoldUp comes with a hitch bolt and clip and is backed by a lifetime warranty.
