If value, security and usability are all important factors in your search for a roof-mounted bike rack, then stop looking, because the Yakima SteelHead Fork Mount has all three - and more.

This inexpensive carrier is easy to install, clamping to your Yakima roof-rack crossbars with no drilling. The SteelHead mounts specifically to Yakima crossbars for a sure fit and is compatible with bar spreads from 16" to 42". (Spreads of 16" to 18" will be limited to two bikes using SteelHead).

The carrier comes with an SKS-lockable skewer that not only secures the bike to the carrier, but also the fork block on the crossbars, even when no bike is mounted. SKS Cores (sold separately) allow all your Yakima locks to be keyed alike.

The fork block features an aerodynamic design that creates both a low profile and extra stability.

The rear wheel sits in the tray and is secured by a ratcheting strap. The strap also slides along the tray to accommodate bikes of varying lengths.

The wheel tray can be locked to your crossbars by replacing the hand knob (hex key) on the bottom of the mounting bracket with a Yakima Accessory Lock Housing (Y07220), which requires purchase of an additional SKS Core.
The sturdy, steel construction of the SteelHead allows the carrier to withstand abuse, and the wide tire tray accommodates a wide variety of tire sizes.
