Tekonsha Primus Proportional Electric Trailer Brake Control. Replaces the 9055 Tekonsha Sentinel Brake Controller.

Primus utilizes Prodigy technology and features the Tekonsha one step "Point and Go" set-up system. The Primus brake controller is not auto-leveling like the Prodigy and Odyssey. However, it is very easy to set the controller. Just point the sensor position arm on the side of the contoller to the floor of the vehicle.

Proportional braking translates into faster and smoother stopping with less wear and tear on both the vehicle and trailer brakes

Quick and easy disconnect feature allows user to remove and store the control when not in use

Dimensions: 3-1/2" (W) x 4-9/16" (L) x 1-1/4" (H)
Made for up to three-axle trailer brake systems (6 Brakes)
Can be mounted between 0 degree (level) and 70 degrees

Required: For vehicles without brake control adapters.: 20 amp. Circuit Breaker (9506P) for 2-4 Brake applications; 30 amp. Circuit Breaker (38630) for 6 Brake applications


Pointing the switch towards the floor sets the controller for normal braking. For heavier or lighter loads the sensor positioning arm can be manuevered to make the control more or less aggressive.


The pocket is designed for easy mounting and unmounting. It also allows for flexible positioning of the controller under the dash.

I was thrilled to see how easy this was to install. I bought the GM wiring harness (no cutting or crimping, just plug it in to the circuit box and away you go) and within minutes I had brake control. Two screws later and the control was mounted.
