After searching for a hitch , i found this product from etrailer. This trailer hitch was very reasonably priced and the shipment was very fast. After receiving the hitch, it only took about 30 minutes to install. This product is extremely well built. The welds are excellent, and i especially like the tow hook rings. I use this truck for a landscaping trailer and fishing boat.
Great product was a great company .
THANKS

Thanks for the follow up. I have used this trailer hitch extensively, and it is a great product. Its also a pleasure to deal with a company that genuinely cares about its customers. You will get all my business as I need more products, and I will let all my friends know about etrailer also. Have a great day.

Excellent product and superior service! It arrived in a couple of days and
an easy install.
Here is a helpful hint. To support the bumper I used two cargo straps (the
kind with no hooks). With the tailgate open drop the non buckle end between
the tailgate and body. Close the tailgate and wrap the straps under and
around the bumper and tailgate. Tighten them and the bumper is supported
with nothing in your way! Pretty slick, see attached photos

Thanks for the tip on keeping the bumper up. It looks like a good way to do it. I will use this way when I install mine. Did you need help holding the hitch in place?

2015 Toyota Tacoma

I received the hitch and it looked good. I took it out the box it came in. Went to install it and noticed one of the sides was bent in, this probably happened during shipping. I used a rubbed mallet to beat the side back out to get it to fit up against the bed rails. Other than that the installation was simple and easy.

It works well. I haven’t had any problems with it Knock on wood The only problem I had was when I first got it and it was bent a little bit but I was able to straighten it and get it on.

2010 Toyota Tacoma

Received the package and noticed that the contents had shifted creating a hole through the cardboard. The hitch, hardware and wiring harness appear to be ok. Until the hirch is installed i really won't know if there are any issues.
The hitch and harness look we made.

I installed the following on a 2006 Toyota Tacoma PreRunner. Watching all the related etrailer installation videos will give you an excellent idea of what to expect. Having an extra pair of hands removing the rear bumper and installing the hitch is a must. I admit it would have been nice to have a lift and impact wrench. ;) Otherwise pretty straight forward. The wiring harness and mounting brackets were just as simple. Again, just follow all the etrailer videos. See photo 1 for finished install. Sorry for the poor quality pic.

Works like a charm. I'm satisfied!

Side note: I used the longer receiver mounting bracket (18136) in conjunction with the 4-Pole Flat mounting bracket(18144). The wire connector is almost even with the back of the receiver tube. See photo 2.

* 118496 - T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector
* 18136 - No-Drill Mount Bracket, Long
* 18144 - Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat

Because I am volunteering to help pull a trailer once a month for a local charity, this particular product definitely made the project a viable solution. The great ratings on this hitch, price, and turn around time on shipping were an obvious plus. I will be keeping etrailer bookmarked for any future towing needs. Wouldn't hesitate recommending etrailer to a friend.

2012 Toyota Tacoma

When I ordered this trailer hitch for my 2012 Toyota Tacoma from etrailer.com it was expressed mailed free of charge! Three days later, there it was on my front porch! The etrailer video that explains how to install the hitch was easy to understand. Although it's recommended that two people install the hitch, I was able to do it myself using a car jack to hold one end up while I attached the other end. Total installment time by myself was 50 minutes. I was going to have a professional do the wiring, but etrailer makes it so simple that I may do that job myself at a great price!

by:

Best part about this hitch is its made in the USA. It went on flawlessly and looks great. The finish is shinny powder coating and the fit is perfect. I also added a 4 pin wiring harness bracket that holds the connector up and out of sight.

by:

The hitch receiver was taped at the end including to wrappings of paper cardboard around the crossbar. The box was beat up really bad by UPS and resulted a few minor dings and scratches on the crossbar and receiver. Yes, UPS has some responsibility for mishandling the package but etrailer did not pack this well in my opinion.

by:

Fits like a glove! I also was replacing a rusted out bumper and the only additional pieces you may need if you are replacing an original OEM hitch, would be the left and right bumper brackets.

by:

The quality of this hitch is top notch. Heavy duty, sturdy and well built. The installation instructions made the project very easy to install. This product was a perfect fit and I would definitively buy from this company again. Thanks etrailer and keep up the great work.

There should be a rating higher than "Excellant" for the two products I bought, trailerhitch and wiring harness....
Both of these were so easy to install I was "blown away" by the ease of installation...
But I do have ONE HUGE suggestion....Either include a CD-ROM for the installations, or at least include something that says go to your web site and watch the videos. Your step-by-step video instructions were awesome. The written directions tell you to removr two bolts and loosen three and then mount the hitch, NO WAY, it's much easier to do it like your video tells you to. I took my laptop out to the garage and watched the video during the install and could pause it and do that step, pause and restart :) :) :) LOVED IT......

Our first order received was missing two of the parts ordered. Once we received the rest, the pins were missing from it. So all in all the parts are great once installed. The shipping dept. may need some improvement.

Received the trailer hitch on time. A great product and was easily installed by me. This is my second hitch from E-Trailer (first hitch was for a 2009 Honda CRV), and the service then was great too. Highly recommend E-Trailer - and great installation instructions too!

Great! No problems at all. Used on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup to tow a 13 Casita travel trailer on a trip from Kinsale, VA to Argentia, Newfoundland Canada! A trip of about 6000 miles. The hitch was very easily installed and the instructions were very thorough. Thanks much!!

I bought the Kurt trailer hitch and had it installed on my Toyota Tacoma. Not a problem at all installing it. Fit right in. It has been used to take a sailboat to water five times this year. Great product!

2005 Toyota Tacoma

I ordered the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver for my 2005 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab. My Tacoma does not have the towing package so I ordered it primarily for carrying bicycles.

The free shipping was great as I received the hitch within three days.

The instructions called for a two man installation. I am a small person at 5'4" and 120 lbs and was able to perform the install myself with an ATV jack with a plywood board mounted to it.

Before the hitch arrived, I removed the rear bumper as instructed. This gave me an opportunity to clean out all of the leaves and spider nests.

When the hitch arrived, I lifted it in place with the ATV jack and followed the instructions. The hitch mounted into place with very little effort and the bumper mounting pins did not have to be removed.

Mounting of the bumper using the ATV jack was very easy. Since I don't have the towing package, I did not have to perform any wiring.

The total time spent was equivalent to a half day. This included taking the time to clean all of the parts removed from the pickup.

Complete installation instructions not included, there is not difference between X-Runner and Non-X-Runner part numbers. There a frame differences between Tacoma pickups. The one I purchased was manufactured for "Drop In Fit" for outside frame measurement of 37 inches. My frame (2008 Tacoma) measures 37.5 inches and Curt hitch was not a drop-in fit. I phoned etrailer to setup returned and was told part was probably "bent" during shipment (the box was in pristine condition) and I must troubleshoot before an RMA would be provided. The lady sent me instructions on how to "bend to fit". After carefully bending the hitch to increase the width, I was able to install it by myself using a floor jack in 2 hours & 20 minutes. My recommendation is to measure your frame and confirm hitch dimensions before ordering to save installation time. Also, if this is a common practice for trailer hitch installs, instructions for how to "stretch hitch" should be included with the installation instructions.

  • Trailer Hitch Fit for 2009 Toyota Tacoma
Those two vehicles are totally different so the hitches from one would not fit the other. For the 2009 Toyota Tacoma you would want the Curt hitch part # 13323 which is a confirmed fit and would be a great option. I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.

  • Installing Curt Hitch Receiver # 13323 On 2009 Toyota Tacoma
I have never heard of this issue on the Curt # 13323. It is a confirmed fit for 2005- 2015 models. The only frame changes are from 2014-2015 on X-Runner models. Installation does require removing the bumper and loosening 3 bolts and removing 2 others on each side of the bumper bracket. I've attached the installation details as well as attached a video for you.

The aftermarket hitches for a 2011 Toyota Tacoma don't fit alongside the factory installed hitch; some trucks have hitches you can add on to OEM hitches that fit underneath the original. So I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to replace your OEM hitch with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13323. We did have one customer (see below cut out) mention replacing their OEM hitch, and they mentioned taking a look at the bumper brackets, which are required to install the # 13323....

  • Fit of Hitch for 2006 Toyota Tacoma on 2006 Toyota Hilux
From my research, I found that one of the primary differences between the Hilux and Tacoma is the frame at the rear of the truck. Since this is where the hitch attaches to the vehicle, the fact that the frame is different would affect the fit of the hitch. None of our hitch manufacturers have test fit a hitch meant for a Tacoma on a Hilux, since they're not available in the US. Because of this, they couldn't give me a definitive answer.

Most likely the Curt hitch part # 13323 that you tried to install was bent in shipping as that hitch is a fit for your vehicle and unfortunately hitches do sometimes get bent in shipping. We see this pretty often and would explain why the flanges of the hitch you tried were 5/8 of an inch to close together. The correct distance is 37-5/8 inches like what you have. The Curt hitch part # 13323 is not listed as a fit for your 2010 Toyota Tacoma as it does not fit the versions of the truck that have the OEM hitch. That being said I don't see why it would match up to the frame now that the OEM hitch is gone. I would be a little worried that the frame rusted badly as well where this would need to install.

There really isn't any reason the Curt Hitch part # 13323 would be any harder to install than the Hidden Hitch part # 87581 or the Draw Tite Hitch part # 75236. The reason for the install time difference is because Hidden Hitch and Draw Tite are made by the same company so they rated the install time one way (the same) and Curt said it would take a bit longer. It's hard to say exactly how long it will take someone so they make their best approximation. They just happen to have picked different...

Between the Draw Tite # 75236 and the Curt # 13323 there isn't a significant difference in ground clearance. They both fit right up to the bottom of the rear bumper. Overall I would go with the Curt though. We have found that typically the quality control is a bit tighter on the Curt hitches and the powdercoat is a little more resilient.

You'll have to get underneath the rear of the truck and look at how the hitch is attached to the rear truck frame. If it's bolted to the frame then it's aftermarket and a hitch like the Draw Tite # 75236 could fit and work great. If instead it's welded to the rear bumper beam or frame it would be an OEM hitch.
