poor installation design!
Bob from Mesa, Az
purchased and installed kit #50041 on my 2005 2500hd shortbed. I am an a&p mechanic for an airline. It took me approximately 6 man hours. It is impossible to get the bolt and washer in the box frame on the left side. the bolts were difficult to tighten from the rails down tru the bed, esp. on the left side. The right side underneath, had to cut the heat sheild out to get to bolts to tighten. The left side i had to knotch out the frame where the tooling hole is to make the washer fit. All this after i tried to shave the washer down, no luck. Maybe the claim of no drilling is correct, but some cutting (heat sheild) and some die-grinding out of the tooling hole to make the bolt fit. Lousy design, would not recommend. Instead, why not pick up the factory installed pressed in studs! on the frame.

Installed with some help. Takes a little patience to get bolts and spacers with lock washers and nuts lined up. Working with a 7/8 gear wrench would be a plus on tight spots. It always helps to have the proper tools before you begin. Very satisfied with end results.

07 2500HD Duramax. A perfect fit. Just bent the heat shield then bent back in place, I found no reason to remove it. Over fuel tank is tight quarters for bolts, but take your time they wuill fit. A very strong solid set-up. Instructions were perfect, and very understandable. Very affordable at etrailer.

Great Product

'04 Duramax shortbed. Easy to install. Had to have some patience over the fuel tank with the narrow frame space. A 7/8 gear wrench is the way to go as well. Actually had more trouble freeing up my spare tire then I did installing the hitch. I also left the heat shield on and had no problems.
Highly recommend this product!
