Now to being our test fit, well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, align up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten with a wrench. Now well go over some clearance measurements to see how the cargo carrier and this vehicle will fit together. There is about 8 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. The closest part of the vehicle to the closet part of the carrier is about two inches and weve added about 21 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, we'll be test fitting the Thule Pulse Alpine rooftop cargo box with 11 cubic feet of space, matte black in color, part number TH613. Now with the roof rack system already assembled and onto our vehicle, we'll begin our test fit by placing the cargo box onto the vehicle's cross bars. We'll position the clamps over the cross bars, and turn the key to open the lid of the cargo box. Well place all four of them, well then take the round circular bracket, which is coated in rubber and the flat black metal bracket with the two wing nuts and well place that over the top of the cargo basket and underneath of the crossbar. Well then use the two black wing nuts to tighten it down to secure the carrier to the vehicle. Well then repeat these steps for all three of the other brackets.

Today, we're working with the 2012 volkswagen Passat, and we'll be test fitting the Yakima Rocketbox Pro 14, part number y07192.We'll take our boxes, set it up ontop of the crossbars. We'll open the box from one side and then we'll make sure we fit the clamps below around our crossbars.Once we have the clamps fitted around our crossbar in the boxed position where we want it, we'll use the knobs inside to tighten it down.
