- Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2011 Toyota Highlander
- In order to carry bikes on your vehicle, you will either need to add a roof rack or a trailer hitch. At this time, there are no trunk mount bike rack options that will fit a 2011 Toyota Highlander. The bike racks can not be secured to the top of the rear hatch properly.
I recommend adding a trailer hitch because it is more versatile and cost effective than a roof rack. I reocmmend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75586, because it does not require the use of a stabilization strap when using a b

- Is the Rhode Gear Trunk Mounted Bike Rack # RG8015126 Compatible with a 2012 Toyota Highlander
- Because the top mounting hooks would have to mount directly to the glass window, none of our bike rack manufacturers recommend using a trunk mount bike rack on the 2008-2012 Highlander. The rear glass is not considered strong enough to bear the weight of the rack plus the bikes that are carried upon it. Hitting a big bump or pothole with bikes attached would shatter the rear window.
I would recommend installing a receiver hitch like the Curt Class III # 13534 in conjunction with a hitch mount

Your best option would be to install a hitch on your vehicle if you do not have one already and then use a hitch mounted bike rack to transport your bikes. The great thing about having

- Trunk Mounted vs Hitch Mounted Bike Rack for 2005 Toyota Highlander
- Given the choice between a hitch mounted bike rack and a trunk mounted bike rack I would go with a hitch mounted bike rack. Especially if you already have a hitch on your vehicle.
Hitch mounted racks are generally more stable, easier to install, harder to steal and provide easier rear cargo access.
If you do not have a hitch yet I would still recommend you get a hitch and hitch mounted bike rack because once you have a hitch you will have the option to tow a trailer in the future.
