Questions from Nissan Xterra owners about this Bike Rack

  • I would recommend going with the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, # HR1000, for your Day 6 DreamE electric bicycle, as long as the wheel base on the DreamE is not longer than 60 inches. I did a bit of research and could not come up with a definite number for your bikes wheel base, but I believe it is somewhere around 51 or 52 inches. When using this rack you will need to remove the battery because the rack is rated for 2 bikes at 50 lbs each. This is the only rack we carry at this...

Questions from Nissan Xterra owners about this Bike Rack

  • The Thule Archway trunk mount bike rack # TH9010XT will fit your 2002 Nissan Xterra. The rack uses 6 straps to secure to the back of the vehicle. The initial set up will take the longest but after that it should only take a few minutes to get the rack on and probably half that time to remove it. But for the fastest and easiest rack to install or remove I recommend the Raceway 3, # TH9002PRO. I own this rack myself and it is the easiest rack I have used to install or remove....

Questions from Nissan Xterra owners about this Bike Rack

  • If you're looking for a rack that will be used occasionally, there are many racks that would work great for you, including the Thule Passage # TH910XT you mentioned. This type of rack uses a 6 strap/buckle/hook arrangement to attach to the vehicle. The attachment system works pretty well, but it's not very quick, easy or convenient. The Thule Raceway 2, part # TH9001PRO uses 4 attachment cables that retract with a twist of a knob, which allows the rack to be installed or removed...

Saris Axis Tilting 2 Bike Rack Review - 2012 Nissan Xterra

Today on our 2012 Nissan Xterra, we'll be test fitting the Saris Axis Hitch Mounted 2-Bike Rack, part number SA832B. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pinholes, we'll take our anti-rattle bolt and thread it through the shank of the bike rack from the left hand side. We'll then finish off by tightening it with a wrench and then securing the clip on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 16 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 9 inches away and we've added about 16 inches to the overall length of Xterra. We'll now go ahead and loosen up the black knobs on the upper left and right hand corner of the mast. We'll slide the cradle arm up off the grooves onto the smooth portion and raise the arm up.

The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 4" away, and we've added about 14" to the overall length of our Xterra. SportRack Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2013 Nissan Xterra

Today on our 2013 Nissan Xterra we're going to be test fitting the Sport Rack Fork Mount Roof Bike Rack part number SR4622. With our Thule Rapid Crossroads Roof Rack already installed on our Xterra, we're going to begin our test fit by placing the bike rack directly onto our load bars. Here at the front of the carrier, we're going to bring the two black metal, rubber coated U-bolts around the underside of our load bars, fit them through the head of the carrier, and secure them in place using the wing nuts. With all four wing nuts here at the front tight, we'll move to the rear. Here we're going to take two carriage bolts, place them through the appropriate holes in the base of the rack, being sure that we have one coming out on each side of our load bar, we'll then take the black plastic spacer, place it between our load bar and our rack, being sure that our carriage bolts go through that, then we'll put on the black rubber coated metal portion of our clamp. This will go under our load bar, and we'll secure it in place using the two wing nuts. With these two wing nuts tight, our rack is secured to our vehicle and we're now ready to load our bike. We'll want to undo our rear wheel strap and open our front skewer. We'll then grab our bike, place it onto the rack, guiding the front forks down onto the skewer where we'll secure it first ...

Kuat TRIO Roof Bike Rack Review - 2013 Nissan Xterra

Today on our 2013 Nissan Xterra, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Trio, a fork-mounted roof bike rack, part number Ru01. At the front of the carrier, we'll bring one of the black, rubber-coated metal U-bolts around the underside of our load bar, fit it through the head of our carrier, and hold it in place using two of the cylinder nuts. On the other side of the front of the carrier, we'll do the same thing. Bring the U-bolt around the underside of the bar, put on the two cylinder nuts; then we can tighten all four of our cylinder nuts down, to secure the rack to the vehicle, here at the front. We'll now move to the rear, where we're going to loosen our clamp and remove one of our wing nuts completely.

With that tight, we'll move to the rear and bring our rear clamp around our rear bar. We'll drop the T bolt through the appropriate slot and then use the hand knob to secure it. We'll go ahead and open up our wheel mount, and we'll undo the rear-tire strap.

We'll bring our clamp around our front bar, fit our T bolt through the appropriate slot, and tighten it down with a T handle. Once we have that in place, we can slide the slotted bracket up around the T handle and reinstall our skewer. At the rear, we'll bring the rear bracket around the rear bar, drop our T bolt through the slot, and tighten it down using the T handle. We'll go ahead and undo the rear wheel strap and make sure our skewer at the front is loose. We'll grab our bike and place it onto our bike rack.

We'll loosen those up with an Allen key and bring our clamp around our front bar. We'll reinsert the bolts and tighten the down with the Allen key. Once we have both of those tight, we can reinstall our skewer and then replace our black plastic cover. We'll go ahead and make sure the skewer is loose for when we're ready to load our bike. Here at the rear, we'll undo the wing nut so we can bring our rear clamp around our rear bar. We'll drop the bolt through the clamp and secure it on the other side by tightening down our wing nut. Now, we'll undo the rear wheel strap.

Nissan Xterra Hitch Bike Racks Questions

  • The Swagman XTC4 bike rack, part # S64665, should work on a front mounted hitch, but there would be a few deciding factors. First, the XTC4 does have a shipping weight of 66 pounds, so you would need to make sure that the weight of the bike rack, plus the weight of the bikes you will carry will not exceed the tongue weight rating of the front hitch. Second, you would need to make sure that your bikes will not interfere with your vision when driving. The XTC4 has a raised...

  • I spoke with my contact at Swagman about the Quad bike rack, # S64691. The wheel cradles on the rack are made of steel. I have included a link to the installation details for this rack for you to view.

  • You will need to connect your safety chains to the safety chain loops on your trailer hitch. I would suggest using two of the Safety Chain Quick Links, item # 49135, and two of the 28" Long Safety Chain with 7/16" Hook, item # 2118-605-04, to extend the length of your safety chains when towing and using the bike rack at the same time. If you find that the chains drag or hang too low and you cannot adjust the quick links enough to eliminate slack you can twist the chains somewhat...

  • There are platform style bike racks that hold the bikes at the wheel and/or frame that can accommodate alternative frame styles like the ones you have mentioned. However none of those are available in a swinging style. If you are set on a swinging bike rack then you will need adapters to carry those bikes. For a swinging rack I recommend the Thule Vertex, # TH9031XT. It will offer the most clearance from the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright bar, 14 inches, 8-1/2 to...

  • Most 1-1/4 inch ball mounts are solid rather than hallow and this bike rack # S64095 is designed to accept a ball with a 3/4 inch diameter shank like # 19256. This ball and a 3/4 inch diameter shank are what you would see on a 1-1/4 inch hitch so you really have nothing to worry about as far as compatibility. The warranty issue is something else entirely. Swagman makes the following statements in the instructions which I have linked for you: 1. Purchaser is advised that...

  • I went to our warehouse and took some measurements for you. I have attached a photo of the Kuat Bike Rack, part # N105-107 that shows the dimensions you asked about. As you can see, there is very little room for between the arms and posts to allow the camera view to be clear. The Thule bike carrier, part # TH916XTR-918XTR has similar dimensions, and would certainly obstruct part if not all of the camera view. Due to the bit of flexibility in the arms there will be some variation...

  • You would need 1 adapter bar per bike if you plan on carrying women's bikes on a hanging style bike carrier such as the Apex, # TH9026. the other option is to use the Softride Hang5, # SR26496, which also has a 5-bike capacity but it holds them vertically. On the Apex, the cable lock really only needs to be able to lock the last bike because if it is secured with the lock you would not be able to remove any of the other bikes. On the Hang5 you would need to add a cable lock...

My favorite for 2 bikes is the Raceway # TH9001PRO that you have referenced and my favorite 3 bike rack is the Raceway 3 # TH9002PRO.
