Questions from Hyundai Sonata owners about this Bike Rack

  • Saris has just recently determined that their Bones trunk mounted bike rack, part # SA805 for the 2 bike or # SA801 for the 3 bike version are a fit for the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan. Saris is a very well known and highly regarded manufacturer of bike racks which are very well received by our customers. If you'll be transporting women's bikes or bikes with sharply-angled top tubes, you might also consider a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between...

  • The Thule Passage 2 trunk mount bike rack, # TH910XT, does fit the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The correct fit dial setting for this vehicle is 7. You will also need to place the top clips in the gap at the front edge of the top of the trunk, place the lower clips in the bottom edge of the trunk, and the lower arm of the carrier should be positioned on the upper tier of bumper. I have included links to the installation instructions and a link to a video review of the bike rack...

  • The Thule Passage 2 bike rack, # TH910XT, is a fit for the 2012 Hyundai Sonata. I am unaware of any differences in the body between models in the contiguous United States and those sold in Alaska or Canada so there should not be any fit issues with a Juneau model. I have included a link to the instructions and a link to a video of the rack for you. • Yes, since you want to carry bikes I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24853 for your 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited. I have linked a video showing how the hitch installs. This, and all of the trailer hitches for your Sonata, is a Class I trailer hitch. What that means is that on a Class I trailer hitch you are limited to 2 bikes maximum. For a compatible platform style carrier one of the most popular platform style carrier options for 2015 Sonata owners is the Swagman XTC #...

Questions from Hyundai Sonata owners about this Bike Rack

  • The Yakima KingJoe Pro 3 Trunk Mount Bike Rack, # Y02625, will fit your 2008 Hyundai Sonata. We have not had any complaints regarding the rack damaging the trunk of any vehicle so it should work fine on your vehicle. You will want to stay within the capacity of the bike rack, 90 pounds for 3 bikes. If your trunk and bumper have a weight limit (which you may be able to find in the owners manual) that is less than 90 pounds, you will need to go by the lower limit. Another...

Questions from Hyundai Sonata owners about this Bike Rack

  • In order to determine if the Thule Doubletrack, # TH990XT, will fit your 2011 Hyundai Sonata, you will need to take 1 important measurement. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole out to the distance required to clear the rear bumper. If this measurement is less than 6-5/8 inches, the bike rack will fit. The trouble you are having with the rack making contact with the ground has more to do with how low the hitch is, and not the bike rack. Based on the design of the vehicle...

  • First, the Curt trailer hitch # C11025 is a fine hitch and I am sure you will be happy with it. However, Curt does require the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, for any non-trailer load, in this case a bike rack. The other hitches, see link, do not require the strap. The strap is designed to relieve some of the stress on the Class I trailer hitch. Also with any Class I trailer hitch, regardless of the brand, you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes at most. The 2 racks...

Questions from Hyundai Sonata owners about this Bike Rack

  • Between the Thule Passage part # TH910XT and the Thule Gateway part # TH9006XT I would strongly recommend the # TH9006XT for your 2011 Hyundai Sonata. This rack has adjustable arms which will allow them to be adjusted level so that your bikes can be carried much easier on the rack. Aside from that both racks are very similar. With those in line we've got a provided anti rattle bolt that we are going to thread in. This bolt is designed to draw the shank of the rack over against the receiver tube.

We'll take the rubber coated steel straps and run underneath the front crossbar and hook them back to the head of the bike rack. We'll then move to the rear crossbar, but we'll make sure that the clamp goes underneath the rear crossbar and we loosely secure it with the wing nuts included with the bike rack.

Thule Sidearm Roof Bike Rack Review - 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Today on this 2009 Hyundai Sonata, we're going to do a test fit of part number TH594XT from Thule. This is a side arm wheel mount bike carier. Our vehicles are already equipped with the Thule roof rack using the square loadbars and our bike rack has already been assembled according to the instructions so what we got to do is just place on the roof rack. We'll go ahead and place the bike rack onto the roof rack and we'll go ahead and install the clamps on the rail going towards the front post. We'll do the in board side and then move to the outboard side of the clamp. Now we still want to leave everything loose so we can move around to it's final position.

Hyundai Sonata Hitch Bike Racks Questions

  • If you were planning on using the hitch for towing purposes as well as for mounting a bike rack, I would recommend the Hidden Hitch # 60269, as it includes a ball mount and pin and clip. If all you needed the hitch for was as a mounting point for a bike rack, the Draw-Tite # 24853 would be a better choice, because you would not be paying for the ball mount that you did not need. Although the Rola TX-102 rack you mention is a good rack, it would not be your best choice if...

  • The shank on the Kuat Beta for 1-1/4 inch receivers, part # is constructed of steel, while the rest of the rack is constructed of aluminum. This gives the 1-1/4 inch model the same 80 lb weight capacity as the model for 2 inch receivers, part # B202-2. I would consider any Kuat rack to be bullet-proof. You would be best served by going with the B202-114 model, because using an adapter will reduce the tongue weight capacity (maximum downward force that can be applied) of your...

  • The best way to carry a girl's or women's bike on a hanging style bike rack like the Thule Vertex # TH9029XT is to use a frame adapter bar like part # 64005. The bar spans the distance between the handlebar gooseneck and the seat post, providing a level attachment point for the bike rack. This allows the bike to be carried level, which maximizes the ground clearance. As long as the distance between the seatpost and the handlebar gooseneck is greater than 16 inches, the adapter...

  • The angle of the ramp is going to be different on every vehicle due to differences in the hitch height. The Thule EasyFold 2 Bike Rack # TH9032 is approximately 8-3/4 inches from the top of the shank that fits in the receiver tube. Measure from the top of the receiver opening on your hitch up 8-3/4 inches to determine about where the platform will be. The ramp is about 4 feet long so given the length of the ramp and the eight of the platform based on the height of your hitch,...

  • There is a way to carry 4 bikes with your 2013 Hyundai Sonata, but only two of them will be able to be carried with a hitch mounted bike rack. The reason is that all of the hitches available for your vehicle are Class I which means they are limited to only carrying 2 bikes. What you will need to do is get a hitch like the Hidden Hitch part # 60296 and a bike rack like part # TH9029 that you referenced but only put two bikes on the rack. Any more than that and you will put too...

  • Yes, girls bikes will fit on the Yakima SwingDaddy # Y02464, but I would add an adapter bar such as # Y02531. The adapter attaches quickly and easily between your handlebars and seat post to form a sturdy, horizontal bar. I have included a couple video reviews for you too.

  • In the review video we did on the Toyota Prius where the lock didn't work the issue was that the Curt Hitch # C11468 has a very short distance from the hitch opening to the cross member of the hitch. I checked all of the hitches available for your 2012 Hyundai Sonata and they all have a longer distance from the hitch opening to the cross member so you should be fine. The Prius is the only vehicle we have seen this issue on.

Hyundai Sonata Trunk Bike Racks Questions

  • Honestly I do not recommend the Thule Raceway # TH9003PRO just because of the weight and damage it has caused other vehicles. Especially on a brand new vehicle such as your 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Thule makes excellent racks, but this one was not executed well. Some people have used this rack without problems but I never feel safe recommending it just because of that risk. For a much better Thule trunk mounted bike rack that will work on both vehicles and work very well check...

  • According to Thule, the Raceway 2 Bike Carrier, # TH9001PRO, will fit your 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. One tip that I can offer is to be sure that when installing this or any trunk mount bike rack that the base of the carrier and the vehicle are clean to help protect the vehicle finish.

  • A trunk-mount platform-style bike carrier such as the Thule # TH9003PRO offers the advantages of not having to lift your bikes up to a roof-mount carrier or remove the front wheels. It is also compatible with a wide variety of frame styles without need for an adapter bar, which is necessary in some cases to transport womens and alternate-frame-style bikes on hanging carriers. The down side of trunk-mount carriers is that they will inevitable apply some force on your trunk...

  • According to Thule, the Raceway 3 Bike Carrier, part # TH9002PRO you mentioned is a fit for your 2014 Hyundai Sonata. I have linked you to a product review video for this carrier. If you are planning on carrying womens bikes or any bike that has an alternative frame, I would recommend the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT. The adapter bar attaches to your bike seat post and handlebar stem post, providing a horizontal bar for the bike rack to secure. I have linked you to...

I have also included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.

  • The Thule Raceway platform style trunk mount rack # TH9003PRO is best suited for vehicles that have metal bumpers. This is because the rack itself is fairly heavy and then adding the weight of bikes to it can deform the less substantial bumpers on other vehicles. I recommend a lighter rack like the regular Raceway # TH9001PRO. I own the 3 bike version of this rack and it is the easiest rack to use and install that I have ever used. It is much less likely that this rack or any...

• The Thule Passage 2 bike rack, # TH910XT, is a fit for the 2012 Hyundai Sonata. So it is comparable to the Yakima KingJoe Pro # Y02625. If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will...

  • Your 2015 Hyundai Sonata is not recommended for use with trunk-mount bike carriers. Both Thule and Yakima recommend none of their trunk-mount racks for your car due to the car trunk's thin sheet metal and the bumper cover that COULD be dimpled or dented by the weight of two bikes. Some bike rack makers do show a fit for certain of their lighter trunk-mount racks but my recommendation is to install a trailer hitch and use a hitch-mount 2-bike rack. This puts all of the carrier...
