Questions from Honda CR-V owners about this product
- Can Cradles on SportRack 3 Bike Carrier Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack be Rotated to Carry Bikes Level
- The bike rack itself, # A30813STL, is can be mounted at a 45 degree angle, the cradle the bike is in is also rotated. It is made to do this for this exact purpose. You want the bikes to be as level as you can get them. If one of the wheels on the bike was angled down it would reduce ground clearance and it could touch the ground on inclines or bumps. You also do not want the bikes hanging out the sides of the vehicle.

- Can I Open My Back Window If I Have a SportRack 3 Bike Carrier Spare Tire Rack on My 1999 Honda CRV
- I spoke with my contact at SportRack and she informed me that you will be able to open the back window if there are no bikes mounted on the SportRack 3 Bike Carrier Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack, part # A30813ST, because when you are not hauling bikes you would not need to have the support strap connected to the back window area.
However, if you have bikes mounted on the # A30813STL you will not be able open the back window because the support strap that is used when you are hauling bikes would

- Can SportRack 3 Bike Spare Mount Rack be Offset to get the Bikes Behind the Center of Vehicle
- The rack does not have to touch the tire. As long as it is properly mounted and does not violently wiggle, it does not matter if it touches the tire.
No, the rack cannot be mounted at an offset angle. It must remain vertical.
If you need a spare tire rack that can be offset to help center the bikes behind your CR-V, a Yakima SpareTime, part # Y0598 may be your best bet. The head can be centered or shifted to one side or the other. I have added a link to the part and a video insall and revi

- Compatibility of Spare Tire Bike Rack A30813STL With a 2002 Honda CR-V
- Spare tire bike rack # A30813STL does not have vehicle specific fits, but it should work well on your 2002 Honda CR-V.
Taking some simple measurements will allow you to determine for certain if this particular bike rack will work with your current spare tire. Take the measurement from the back of your lug nut holes to the furthest out point on the tire. If this measurement is 4-1/4 inches or less, then you would be able to use the # A30813STL bike rack.

- Is the Stabilizer Strap Necessary for Use with the SportRack 3 Bike Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack
- Yes, the manufacturer states that the stabilizing strap is required while transporting the bikes on the SportRack 3 Bike Spare Tire Mount Bike Rack, item # A30813STL. The strap helps keep the weight of the bikes, hanging away from the vehicle from putting too much stress on the rear of the vehicle or the spare tire mount when traveling rough roads.
If the strap is attached to the lip at the top of the back door on your 2001 Honda CRV then you will be able to open the door without removing the

Questions from Honda CR-V owners about this product
- Recommendation For 4 Bike Rack on 2011 Honda CRV That Will Allow Access to Rear Cargo Area
- A bike rack is not a permanent attachment to a vehicle. For 4 bikes you will need a hitch bike rack that will have a shank that will insert into a Class III 2-inch trailer hitch on the rear of your vehicle. This will allow the bike rack to be removed when not being used.
The trailer hitch on your vehicle is attached to the frame of your CRV and the load of the 4 bikes on the hitch will be supported by your vehicles frame.

If it is listed at 150 pounds tongue weight, you must go by that rating even if the hitch is rated higher. If you need to add a hitch, I do recommend a Class III trailer hitch because the 2 inch receiver is compatible with more accessories than a smaller hitch.
The most popular hitch option is the Draw-Tite hitch, # 75742. I have included a link to the installation details for

- Carrying More Than 2 Bikes with Class I Hitch on 2010 Honda CR-V
- The hitch and bike rack manufacturers all agree that a bike rack installed in a Class I receiver should be limited to two bikes. The weight is not the only issue, any additional bikes added will put the load of the rack and the bikes further away from the receiver opening. As this distance increases, so does the leverage applied to the hitch and its attachment points to the vehicle. This leverage can bend and eventually break the hitch or cause the hitch attachment points to the vehicle to fail.

- Why Can a Class I Trailer Hitch Only Handle 2 Bikes on a Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack
- All Class I hitches should be limited to just 2 bikes on a bike rack designed to fit a Class I trailer hitch. The reason is not the weight capacity of the hitch. With more weight further from the hitch and the addition of the bouncing that will occur as you travel, the force will be too much for the trailer hitch to handle and it will damage the hitch, the

- Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2008 Honda CR-V with Rear Spoiler
- I do have a solution for carrying bikes on your CR-V, but a trunk mount rack is not going to work. The rear spoiler on the 2008 Honda CR-V is going to be a concern. The straps for a trunk mount bike rack would end up putting stress on the spoiler that the spoiler cannot handle and so a trunk mount bike rack cannot be used.
Even without a spoiler, the bike racks that would fit require glass hatch adapters and you would be limited to just 2 bikes even on 3 bike model bike racks.
