Questions from Ford Flex owners about this Cargo Carriers

  • For your 2011 Ford Flex without roof rails and extended moon roof, I would recommend installing a roof rack system to carry your skis. For carrying your luggage, I would recommend installing a hitch mounted cargo carrier, for which you would need to install a trailer hitch on your Ford Flex. For a roof rack, I would recommend Thule Roof Rack For Ford Flex, part # TH480R, THARB60, THKIT1518, which includes everything needed to mount to the roof of your 2011 Ford Flex. To...

  • Yes, first you will need a trailer hitch with a 2 inch hitch receiver, like Curt Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13110 for the Ford Flex with dual exhaust, or Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # 13551 for the Ford Flex without a dual exhaust. Then you can use a cargo carrier like the 24x60 Pro Series Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches, # 63153, which you referenced. I have included a couple installation videos of these hitches and the cargo carrier for you to check out.

Questions from Ford Flex owners about this Cargo Carriers

  • As long as you have a Class III 2 inch hitch on your 2014 Ford Flex like the part # 87571 a folding hitch mounted cargo carrier like the Surco Cargo Carrier part # 52018F that you referenced would fit and fold up just fine. I attached review videos for the hitch and the cargo carrier you referenced. The Curt carrier part # C18151 would also fit and fold up, this carrier would just have about 4 inches less of depth.

Questions from Ford Flex owners about this Cargo Carriers

  • We offer two different lightweight aluminum cargo carriers, the Curt folding 19x60 inch model, part # C18100 or the 20x47 inch MaxxTow you referenced, part # MT70108. Both carriers weigh just under 30 lbs and are the lightest cargo carriers we offer. Either carrier would be compatible with your Flex, but since you mentioned that you were more interested in a 60 inch wide carrier, the Curt model might be your best bet. Since the C18100 is rather long, it is important that when...

Ford Flex Hitch Cargo Carrier Questions

  • For your 2011 Ford Flex without roof rails and extended moon roof, I would recommend installing a roof rack system to carry your skis. For carrying your luggage, I would recommend installing a hitch mounted cargo carrier, for which you would need to install a trailer hitch on your Ford Flex. For a roof rack, I would recommend Thule Roof Rack For Ford Flex, part # TH480R, THARB60, THKIT1518, which includes everything needed to mount to the roof of your 2011 Ford Flex. To...

  • There are a few different factors that you will want to look at in your situation. The first factor to consider is the weight of the gear you plan on carrying. I found a copy of the owners manual for your 2013 Ford Flex and I found that the roof weight capacity of your Flex is 100 lbs and the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch is 200 lbs. If you plan on carrying more than 100 lbs of gear and luggage, a hitch mounted cargo carrier may be your best option, it is also the...

Then you can use a cargo carrier like the 24x60 Pro Series Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches, # 63153, which you referenced. I have included a couple installation videos of these hitches and the cargo carrier for you to check out.

There are currently several options for Class I hitches: # C18145 # 6500 # C18110 # 52017 Out of these options I recommend # 6500 because the rise in the shank and the ability to adjust how close the basket part is to the vehicle will allow you to keep the carrier out of the exhaust path. • The Thule Transporter Combi Hitch Mounted Enclosed Cargo Carrier, # TH665C, extends from the center of the hitch pin hole 7-1/2 inches to the back of the carrier. When tilted, the carrier will tilt down at a 45 degree angle. This provides enough clearance for vehicles with a rear hatch that opens up but not enough for vehicles with a rear door that opens to the side. The Transporter does not comes with a cargo net.

  • The Carpod Walled cargo carrier you referenced, part # M2205 would not allow you to open the rear hatch of your Ford Flex unless the front, rear and side walls were folded down. The only cargo carrier we offer that I can guarantee will allow you to fully open your rear hatch would be the Rola Swinging Cargo Carrier, part # 59109. As the name implies, the carrier will swing away toward the passenger side of the vehicle enough so that the rear hatch can be opened. Another...

  • The best advice I can give you for determining how this 20x60 Railed Cargo Carrier # C18150 will fit on your 2011 Ford Flex is to measure from the center of the hitch pin out to the furthest point of your bumper. Once you have that measurement you will be able to determine exactly how the # C18150 would fit on your vehicle in relation to your exhaust. The # C18150 measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin out to the carrier platform and then the carrier has a rise...

Ford Flex Roof Cargo Carrier Questions

  • Surco only has fit information for the Ford Flex up to the 2012 model year. If the 2014 happens to be exactly the same then you will actually need Safari Basket # SPS4560 and installation adapter # SPCH100 according to Surco. This adapter fits in channels in the side rails on the Ford Flex. If your Flex has raised side rails then you could use a Safari basket with the clamp-on adapters such as # SPS4550-1101. But you may need to go with a wider basket to ensure fit such as...

  • If your 2010 Ford Flex has a factory roof rack that includes crossbars that run from side to side, then the Yakima LoadWarrior Roof Rack Cargo Basket with Extension Kit, # Y07070-74, is a direct fit. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view. If your Flex has side rails that run front to back but no crossbars, you will first need to add crossbars in order to mount the basket. To add crossbars, you will need Yakima RailGrab Towers, # Y00138, and Round...

  • The Curt basket, # C18115, will fit if the crossbars on the roof of your 2011 Ford Flex are 3 inches or less wide and the center to center distance between them is at least 15 inches. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for the roof and rack capacities. I have included a link to the installation details for you.

  • Since the hardware of the Rola Roof Basket part # 59504 can fit wide aero style bars (up to 3-1/4 inch), it would fit Yakima round bars (which are 1-1/8 inch thick), spaced 36 inches apart.
