Yakima HighLite Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Honda Pilot

Today on our 2007 Honda Pilot, we're going to test fitting the Yakima HighLite 2-Bike Rack 4 inch and a quarter and 2 inch hitches. Part number Y0243A. We'll being our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the hitch on our vehicle. You want to keep a hand on the anti-rattle device to make sure it slides in smoothly. We'll then want to watch for our hitch pinholes to line up and insert the included hitch pin. We'll tighten the anti-rattle device here at the base of the rack. This helps to take any extra play out of the shank of the vehicle to help eliminate movement of the rack. As you can see, we're nice and tight there. The first measurement we'll get is going to be the closest point of the rack to the vehicle. That's going to measure about 4 and half inches. Our ground clearance is going to be about 14 and half inches. Overall to the rear of our Pilot, we've added about 11 inches. One of the nice features of this rack does, fold away from our vehicle.

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Honda Pilot

Today on our 2007 Honda Pilot, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima FullTilt 4-Bike Rack, part number Y02462. We'll begin our test-fit by inserting the shank of the rank into the hitch of our vehicle. You'll want to keep a finger on the anti-rattle device to make sure it slides in smoothly. You'll notice here the self-locking hitch pin. We'll go ahead and push that in until it locks into our main hitch pin there. We'll then tighten the anti-rattle device here at the base of the mask. This will help take any extra play out of the shank of the rack.

Yakima FullSwing Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2007 Honda Pilot

Today on our 2007 Honda Pilot we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Fullswing 4-bike rack, part number Y02465. Once that's in you want to make sure to guide the anti-rattle device in and you'll notice the self-locking hitch pin will lock into place. You want to make sure it locks into the appropriate hole for this particular hitch. We'll tighten the anti-rattle device here at the base of the mast. This helps to take any extra play out of the shank of the rack which eliminates movement overall going down the road. As you can see we're nice and tight there. The closest part of the rack to the vehicle is going to be the T handle here.

2007 Honda Pilot Hitch Bike Racks Questions

  • All things considered the I believe the Sportrack 3 Bike Rack # SR2403 has the advantage because of its ability to be folded up for storage. However, there are a few differences between these racks. The Sportrack model has a higher capacity at 132 pounds/45 per bike. The Swagman is at 120 pounds. The Swagman also has a distance of 11 inches from the center of the hitch pin out to the nearest upright bar of the rack while the Sportrack has a distance of 12-1/2 inches. I also...

  • Yes, there is an adapter that is used for the exact purpose of carrying alternative frame bikes. I recommend using the Swagman Easy Out Adapter Bar # 64005. This bike adapter bar will connect between the seat post and the handle bars, providing a horizontal cross-tube to secure the bikes in the rack. • I see that you purchased the # 75599 Draw-Tite trailer hitch, which has a 2 inch receiver opening. This was a great choice for carrying a bike rack, and the # TH9028XT rack you referenced would work well with it, as long as you have enough clearance. To be certain that the Thule Vertex 2-bike rack will clear the bumper on your 2007 Honda Pilot, you will want to take a quick measurement. Measure out from the center of the hitch pin hole until you have cleared the bumper. The...

  • A class II hitch usually has a lower capacity and has an 1-1/4 by 1-1/4 inch opening, while a class III hitch has the more common 2 inch opening. I have included a couple of helpful articles that explain the differences between hitch classes and receiver sizes. I would recommend the Sportrack bike rack, part # SR2404 for your needs. It is a very popular 4-bike rack that will work great with a class III hitch. I have included a link to a video of this bike rack for you. The...

2007 Honda Pilot Trunk Bike Racks Questions

  • At this time we do not have a trunk mounted bike rack designed to fit the 2007 Honda Pilot. The reason there is not a trunk mount for the Pilot is that there is no safe position to attach the lower straps. For the Mazda 3 Sedan 3 bike trunk mount racks are not recommended because the vehicle construction cannot handle more than two bikes. In your situation the best recommendation would most likely be a hitch mounted bike rack and hitch for each vehicle. For the Pilot, I...

  • It isn't that there isn't enough support it is the fact that the top spoiler or trim piece is not meant to support any weight itself. Adding a crossbar would not help or it would not help enough as there would still be tension on that spoiler piece. You would need to use the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top rack, # HRF2-3.
