Extension is well made and does exactly what I needed to do (get the bike rack clear of the trunk of the car). eTrailer was excellent to deal with. Gave me a free upgrade in shipping and I received the hitch 3 business days after placing the order.7648

etrailer sent it out ASAP and as heavy as the item is, the shipping was very reasonable. Works like a champ to extend my receiver hitch out a bit to accomodate a folding Thule T2 bike rack on my car. Great company, and would do business with you again!6749

  • Hitch Extender Cuts Tongue Weight Capacity
  • You should be fine. If you have a Class I hitch, you will have a 200-lb tongue weight at least. The extender will cut your tongue weight in half, leaving you with 100 lbs of tongue weight. Two bikes plus your bike rack only comes to roughly 82 lbs, so you are well under the 100-lb capacity.

  • Is Hitch Extender, part # hes6, an adapter or extender?
  • This Hitch Extender For 1-1/4 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver, 6 inch, code # hes6, extends your tongue 6 inches, but will not adapt it to a 2-inch receiver, so this is perfect for your application. This will do the job for you, but be careful not to exceed the reduced capacity of your tongue weight. So if your hitch tongue weight capacity was 200 lbs, the extender will reduce it to 100 lbs maximum.

  • Using a Hitch Extender With Bike Rack on 2006 Honda CR-V
  • We have what you are looking for, the 6 Inch Hitch Extender for 1-1/4 inch receivers, part # HES6. This will extend your receiver by 6 inches, which will hopefully clear your spare tire. One caution, though. Using this extender will lower the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by half. If you have a Class I hitch (see the label on the hitch) your tongue weight capacity will be 200 lbs. Using the extender would lower that figure to 100 lbs. This means that the bike rack and the bikes placed

  • Will Bike Rack Capacity Be Reduced When Using a Trailer Hitch Extender on a 2005 Honda CR-V
  • The capacity of the bike rack will not be reduced and will remain at 70 pounds. But the tongue weight capacity of the hitch and your vehicle will be reduced by 50 percent. You will need to consult your owners manual to see what the tongue weight capacity is for the CR-V. If you have a Class I hitch, like the Hidden Hitch, # 60952, the tongue weight capacity will be reduced to 100 pounds. The rack plus the weight of the bikes, could be dangerously close to that 100 pound limit, depending on the w

  • What is Measurement From Hitch Pin Hole to Where Diameter Increases on Brophy 1-1/4 Hitch Extender
  • I contacted our representative at Brophy and he informed me that from the center of the hitch pin hole to where the shafts diameter increases on Hitch Extender, part # hes6, is 3 inches. He also said that there is a bead of weld where the diameter starts to increase and that the distance from the center of hitch pin hole to beginning of weld bead is 2-5/8 inches.

  • Hitch Extender # hes6 Recommendation on a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
  • This Hitch Extender For 1-1/4 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver 6 inch, part # hes6, extends your tongue 6 inches, but will not adapt it to a 2-inch receiver, so this is perfect for the application on your 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe. This will do the job for you, but be careful not to exceed the reduced capacity of your tongue weight. So if your hitch tongue weight capacity was 200 lbs, the extender will reduce it to 100 lbs maximum. I attached a link to an FAQ page hitch extenders and adapter

  • What is Used to Attach Brophy Hitch Extender # hes6 to a Trailer Hitch
  • The Brophy Hitch Extender, part # hes6 will attach to your 1-1/4 inch hitch with a 1/2 inch diameter hitch pin like the Draw-Tite Pin and Clip, part # PC2. I would also recommend the Deadbolt Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # 7682 and to help keep the assembly quiet the Curt Trailer Hitch Anti-Rattle Kit, part # F-315. Remember, when using a hitch extender your towing capacity and tongue weight capacity will be reduced by 50 per cent.

  • Using Hitch Extension for Cargo Carrier on 2005 Subaru Outback With Class II Receiver
  • Using an extender like the part # HES6 you referenced will reduce the tongue weight capacity (or downward force that can be safely applied to the hitch) by 50 percent. I would avoid using an extender if at all possible. I would recommend the Pro Series 20 x 48 Cargo Carrier, part # 63155. It will fit your 1-1/4 inch class II receiver, and offers a 300 lb weight capacity. The shank is long enough to offer 11 inches of clearance measured from the hitch pin hole to the closest portion of the car

  • Can a Hitch Extender be Used with a Bike Rack
  • The limiting factor is the capacity of your hitch. Using a 1-1/4 inch extender will reduce your hitch overall capacity by half. Your hitch has a 200 pound maximum tongue weight, so by using the extender you will be limiting your capacity to 100 pounds. Tongue weight is the weight of the bike rack, the extender (if used), and any load in the vehicle behind the rear axle, plus the bikes on the rack. You can see that, when using an extender, you will be significantly limited to the amount of w
