This SkyBox Pro 16s from Yakima is so loaded with features, it's hard to imagine there would be any room left over to hold your gear. In fact, it has 16 cubic feet of storage space. Couple that with all the great features and you have yourself a knockout storage system for the top of your vehicle.

The SkyBox features aerodynamic styling, engineered to reduce drag and wind noise, so it rides quietly and never becomes a distraction. The box has a flat base for easy, on-car adjustment and an undercut tail that provides generous clearance for your hatchback.

The SkyBox lid is home to the vast majority of its exciting features, including its ability to open from both sides. No matter where your box is mounted on the roof, the dual-sided opening allows for easy access. And the lid sits on spring-loaded hinges, so opening it will never be a problem.

The lid is made three times stiffer than other Yakima cargo boxes, a feature that helps to reduce vibration associated with the road and also makes opening the box easier. An easy-to-grab edge on the lid provides a better handhold for wet and cold conditions.

SkyBox Pro boasts a top-of-the-line SuperLatch security latch on both sides of the hull. The latch ensures that the lid is securely anchored to the base and seals tight to keep the elements from infiltrating your box. Both security latches include Same Key System (SKS) Locks, which allow all your Yakima locks to be keyed alike. The key cannot be removed from the lock unless all three interior latches are secured, preventing you from driving off with an open box. Turning the key also does not open the box. To open the box, you must turn the latch.

SkyBox Pro comes ready to go out of the factory box, with no assembly required. The box clamps to your round, square or factory crossbars with integrated clamps that adjust and tighten with a cam-action lever mounted inside the box. The lever slides along a track and is tightened and released by hand knobs.

Also inside the box is an integrated track system for mounting your gear. This is especially handy with the SkyBox Pro, because it comes with a cargo box pad and net. The pad installs on the floor of the box to provide a soft surface for your gear, and the net anchors to the integrated rails to hold your cargo in place during transport.
SkyBox Pro comes with a premium, scratch-resistant, automotive finish that keeps it looking great on top of your vehicle for years after purchase, and its durable, ABS plastic construction prevents the box from warping, denting or cracking.

Today we are going to show you the Yakima SkyBox Pro 21 in Titanium, part number Y07186. The SkyBox 21 is a 21 cubic foot roof mounted cargo box. The SkyBox line features a slick, aerodynamic design that helps keep drag down to keep gas millage up and wind noise down. The box opens from both the passenger and driver side so that you can access it from either side of the vehicle. With the EndoSkel technology, the Yakima SkyBox line is three times stiffer than the other Yakima roof boxes. The installation is quick and easy with no assembly or tools required. The SkyBox 21 comes with a pair of keys, a cargo net, a cargo pad and is also covered with a lifetime warranty. The Yakima SuperLatch system helps keep your cargo box and the cargo inside secure. The keys can only be removed when the lock is in the locked position. Once the lock is in the unlocked position, the key cannot be removed. This will help make sure you do not accidently lock the key inside of the box. The handle will stay in the open position until the box is closed all of the way and all three latches on each side are engaged. Once the three latches are engaged, the handle flips back up into the closed position and we are able to lock our box and remove the key. 1:24
The SkyBox Pro line uses a double wishbone hinge on either end of the box that will allow it to open from both the passenger and the driver side. The EndoSkel technology adds reinforcing braces to the lid of the box. This will help make the box stronger and also make it easier to open and close as there will be less flex. Along each side of the box are four red cleats. These cleats act as anchor points for the included cargo net. The cargo net will help secure your cargo and keep it from moving around inside of the box. The clamp system on the SkyBox Pro line is easy to use. Flipping the lid open releases the clamp on the underside. We are then able to adjust it to fit our roof rack. Using this knob here, we can loosen the assembly and slide it up and down its track and position it to fit our roof rack. Using this knob, we can compensate for the thickness of our crossbars. For smaller or narrower crossbars, you may need to tighten the knob to take our some of the slack. Once we have everything adjusted where we need it, simply close the lid and the clamp on the underside will bite down on to our crossbars. 2:34
Before we mount our SkyBox Pro onto our vehicle, we are going to go ahead and lay out our pad inside of the box. The pad lies in the center of the box and helps protect the box from the cargo and vice versa. Before we put the box on the vehicle, we are also going to get our cargo net set up. We are going to attach it to the four cleats on the passenger side. That way once we get the box on our roof and loaded, all we have to do is pull it over the cargo and attach it to the driver side. With our pad and cargo net in place, we are ready to go ahead and install the box on the roof of our vehicle and load it up. With our box on top of the vehicle, we are going to make sure that it is centered from left to right on our roof rack. Once we have the box centered in the position where we want it, we can go ahead and start attaching the clamps to our crossbars. We will open our clamp assembly, loosen the adjusting knob. Once everything is in position, we will go ahead and close the clamps and lock them down. We will repeat the same process for the other four clamp assemblies until we get the box secured to our roof rack. 3:35
Make sure when you load your box, you put the heavier items over the crossbars so that they have more support. And make sure that the load is balanced from left to right and front to back. Next we will grab our cargo net and stretch it from the passenger side, over our cargo, to the driver side. Yakima includes a pull string on either side of the lid to help you close it even when standing on the ground. If you like the SkyBox Pro titanium but you do not need a box of this size, there are three others in the titanium finish: an 18 cubic foot size part number Y07183, a 16 cubic foot size part number Y07180, and a 12 cubic foot size part number Y07177. And there you have it for the Yakima SkyBox Pro 21 cargo box in titanium, part number Y07186.
