Specs:
For bike owners on a budget, the DoubleDown 4 is a safe bet. The DoubleDown 4 hitch mounted carrier features a four-bike capacity, a host of Yakima's standard amenities and a modest price tag that will satisfy anyone, from recreational riders to Tour de France trainees.

Designed for convenience above all, the dual-armed DoubleDown 4 has an upright bar - or mast - that tilts forward, away from the vehicle, allowing easy access to the rear cargo area. Perfect for owners with hatch-style rear doors, the mast is operated by a simple, spring-loaded pull pin and easily snaps back into place in upright position.

The DoubleDown 4 mounts into both 2" and 1-1/4" hitches right out of the box. The included steel sleeve converts the bike rack shank from a 1-1/4" to a 2" product in seconds.

The dual arms fold down for storage with a quick-release (TriggerFinger) button mounted on top of the mast. One push of the button and the arms fold to the sides of the mast. The arms click in place in both the "up" and "down" positions to ensure safe transport and storage.

The arms feature anti-sway (Standard SwitchBlade) cradles with a wide track for various bike frame sizes. Soft rubber straps secure your bikes to the cradles, and the anti-sway technology keeps the bikes from rocking back and forth. The distance between the bikes can also be adjusted by sliding the cradles along the arms. The cradles have a small switch that is used to lock them in the desired position.

The narrow design of the dual arms allows the DoubleDown to accommodate a large variety of bike styles, reducing the need for bike adapter bars. The anti-sway cradles can easily be flipped in to make loading and unloading even easier.

A heavy-duty (RocSteady) hitch tongue keeps both the carrier and your bikes stable during transport and features an anti-rattle device that reduces noise and movement in the hitch.

The DoubleDown comes with a durable, powder coat finish and integrated bottle openers at the end of each arm. The DoubleDown 4 includes a standard hitch bolt and clip and is backed by a lifetime warranty.
Improve the security of your rack with an integrated DeadLock cable lock and hitch lock (Y02411), an optional HitchLock (Y07235), or a LockUp (Y07238) cable lock and hitch lock set.

Today we are going to cover part number Y02424 from Yakima. This is their hitch-mounted bicycle carrier. This is their DoubleDown 4 Bike Carrier. We will cover some of the features of this bicycle rack. First off, this is a four-bike bicycle rack, and it does come standard with anti-sway cradles, and it does tilt down out of the way to get in the back of your SUV. And also, is is convertible between the 2-inch receiver and the 1-1/4 inch receiver. And we will show you how you do that, next.
It is pretty simple. You have this bushing right here that works in a 2-inch receiver, and to convert it back down to 1-1/4 inches for a Class II receiver, you undo this bolt right here. And there you have it, it is ready for a Class II receiver hitch. In our application, we are going to use it on a Class III receiver hitch, so we will reinstall the bushing. Also included in the bicycle rack are these three tools here. They help you assemble the bicycle rack, which is really easy. There are like, two or three bolts that you have to put together. And then it comes with a tool here, that you can use to tighten down the hitch bolt on the bicycle rack - plus the Allen wrench for the bushing. We will go ahead and install this bicycle rack in a typical 2-inch receiver hitch, and we will cover all the features of this rack in more detail.
Line up the hitch pin holes. You can install the hitch pin bolt from either side. Just thread it in to get it started. You can use the provided tool to tighten it down. Sometimes the hitch combinations do not allow you for a tool to work on there, so what you can use in its place is a 7/8-inch wrench or socket. All right, once you have it tightened down, you can go ahead and install the safety clip. All right, next we will show you the tilt feature of this bicycle rack. It is really easy to use. You simply pull up on this red button here and it allows the bicycle rack to fold back. And that way, you have easy access to the back of your minivan or SUV.
Next we will go ahead and show you the tilt feature of the arms. It helps to make a lower profile for easy storage. Pull toward you on this button, and the arms just fold down. And do the same thing to fold the arms back up. Next we will go ahead and install a bike and show you how it gets fitted onto the rack and you can see how it gets tied down to the rack. First, what you want to do is take off the straps on the cradle that you want to lift the bike on. We will use this one here. Now we will go ahead and install a bike and show you how to tie it back down. And on the anti-sway cradle, just push down until it meets the downtube and then just pull the strap around it. And the same thing applies to the other straps on the bike.
All right, we will go ahead and show you more detail of the cradles. First off, we will talk about this cradle here. This one does not have the anti-sway part of it but the other half does. And obviously you can tilt this from left to right and you can also move it from front to rear. And the cradles themselves have four points of contact for the strap itself, so you can move it around as you see fit. And inside the cradle, there are a couple of grooves that kind of hold the bike up away from the cradle a little bit, so that allows room for a cable so they do not get mashed up against the frame. And the other cradle here is the one with the anti-sway cradle. You can see how the arm comes down. And actually when this does that, it actually acts as a lock a little bit. It actually tightens up on the crossbar to keep the saddle from moving from front to rear. And when it is folded up, you can move it left and right pretty easily. And the best part of the bicycle rack is built-in bottle openers - great for the end of a long ride. And that covers our review of part number Y02424 from Yakima, their DoubleDown Bicycle Rack.

I bought this rack knowing that I would rarely put 4 bikes on it. With my wife and I the main users, two bikes would be the normal. Really like the ability for it to fold down when not in use and the ability for the title to get into the back of the truck bed. The anti-sway holders are great. I once forgot to connect the anti-sway to one of the bikes and it kept banging against the bikes. I also bought the lock set which I believe should be required.23587

Bike rack is great. Bike no problem, very easy to attach. Bikes do not move around at all while attached to rack. Rack itself assembled in minutes. Yakima makes great products.22140

I really couldn't have asked for a better buying experience. I got exactly what I want at a great price. This exact model is about 75 dollars more expensive when buying anywhere else. It was extremely easy to install and the bikes don't move at all. Last weekend I drove about 100 miles out to the trails and I never had a single worry about my very expensive mountain bike on the back. I'd recommend buying the optional locking kit just to be on the safe side. Thank you so much!21228

First of all, I love eTrailor. I purchased a hitch from them and it was easy to install, great product. I ordered another bike rack that didn´t have fold down arms so they allowed the return for this bike rack. I got this replacement 1.5 days after I ordered it! I´m pleased with this bike rack. You should know there is a little play in both the rotating mechanisms so for long or bumpy trips, they may bump around a bit. Also, the straps are a bit difficulty to hook on, but it´s doable. All in all a good product at a good price from an excellent company with great service. 20673

Super easy to install, and bikes fit great. I am even able to get my 5 year olds bike on the rack ( with a little effort). When on the road there is no rattling, movement or noise from the rack system, this was a complaint I read in some of the other reviews on this rack. For the price this can't be beat - I would definitely recommend this. 9686
