Enjoy the versatility of a wheel mount without breaking the bank by opting for the Yakima Raptor Aero. This roof-mounted bike carrier promotes a wide range of fits, installs easily and works with most crossbar systems - all for a price well below comparable wheel mounts.
The wheel-mount design of the Raptor Aero allows you to load your bike in seconds without removing the front tire, saving time and hassle when compared with fork-mount carriers.
Raptor Aero features an adjustable, vertical arm that cradles your bike's downtube. The jaws positioned at the end of the arm adjust with the turn of an SKS-lockable knob to secure the bike to the carrier. The Raptor fits most bikes with downtubes from 1" to 3". Carrier accepts bikes with non-round downtubes, provided that they are no larger than 3" in any direction, and easily accommodates disc brakes, thru axles and non-traditional suspensions.
The Raptor Aero wheel trays accept most tires 20" and larger, holding them in place with ratcheting straps. Straps slide along wheel tray to accommodate bikes of various lengths.
You can lock the wheel tray to your crossbars by replacing the knobs on the bottom of the mounting brackets with up to three Yakima Accessory Lock Housings (Y07220), which require the purchase of additional SKS Cores.
The carrier mounts to round, square, and most factory crossbars when used with included Universal MightyMounts.
Raptor Aero installs with no tools and folds flat against roof rack when not in use, reducing wind resistance.

Re-Engineer! I found this rack not fitting my expectations. The mounting provisions needed for my Xterra were sufficient and the installation overall wasn't too painful. The problem didn't exist until I had the bike mounted and headed off for a quick drive to ride in the hills. Midway to my destination, I was curious how the bike was doing on top (never had this style of rack before). So, I pulled over to see if the bike was staying solid up there. Much to my surprise, the bike was severely listing to one side. I re-examined all the provision and the jaw clamp to see if it was too loose. Nope, the jaw was tight. I readjusted the bike in the upright position and tighened it even more, to ensure it was keeping the bike in place. Headed off again, just a few miles down the road, which did have some modest turns along the way. Once again, I stopped to see if the bike was doing well. And there the bike was......listing to the side again. Bear in mind, this is a large frame Quintana Roo Lucero. The wheel sets are 700's and nothing unusual about its overall dimensions. Tried this "stop and go" check for the next 40 miles. Much to my displeasure, I kept finding the bike listing from one side or the other. From that point on, I never used the bike rake again. Since then, I have gone to a hitch rack and have been pleased with it ever since. And, yes, its a Yakama.2807
You will not need any additional parts to mount roof-mounted bike rack # Y02093 to your 2001 Toyota Highlander. The included clamps mount directly to the cross bars on the vehicle.
This bike rack works well on factory cross bars, as long as they are not wider than 4 inches, or taller than 1-1/2 inches.
The required spread, or distance between your factory cross bars, changes depending on how many of the bike racks you are planning to install. If you are planning to only install one or tw view full answer...
Yes, my contact at Yakima confirmed that the # Y02093 roof mounted bike rack would be compatible with your 2001 Nissan Xterra as long as you have the factory cross bars, the bars that go from one side to the other, on your roof rack.
I have included a link to the installation instructions for the Raptor Aero bike rack, if needed.

To install a roof top bike rack like the Yakima Yakima Raptor Aero Roof Mounted Bike Carrier - Frame Mount, # Y02093, you would first have to install cross bars on your pop up camper. First, make sure that your camper is rated for this type of application.
You will need to install tracks on the roof first. We have 42 inch (# Y01126), 54 inch (# Y01127), and 60 inch (# Y01135) depending on the length of your camper. You could then install Yakima Control Towers - Roof Rack Feet (QTY 4), # Y002 view full answer...

The Yakima Raptor, # Y02093, will fit the factory crossbars on a 2009 Volvo V70 but it will require Universal MightyMounts, # Y03590. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view.
The rack cannot be used on bikes with composite frames because the clamp that grips the frame could damage it. Instead, I recommend a rack that hold the bike at the wheel. Take a look at the Yakima HighRoller, # Y02091. Because this rack holds the bike at the wheel rather than the frame, it is view full answer...
The problem is not just the weight but the distance the weight is from the trailer hitch receiver. Having 4 bikes on the rack would put enough weight far enough away from the hitch to produce excessive torque that the trailer hitch is not designed to handle. This force will damage the hitch and the vehicle.
You have a couple of options. You can install a larger capacity hitch like # 75717 and use a 4 bike rack. This will be the more economical choice. I have included a link to the installatio view full answer...
